I have an 8800GTS and SCII is freezing/hard crashing like crazy 10-15 minutes into any game.

My GPU only hits about 75C at full load and my CPU only hits around 32C.

Anyone else have this issue? Seems to be common with the 8800 and 9800 NVidia cards.

I am going crazy not being able to play!

I have 2 guest passes available. PM me. Will edit this post once they get used up.

Edit: All taken :( Does anybody else have any free passes? I think there's a couple of users who are still trying to get a guest pass.

lol @auto-repair. Is this true? omg, that was like one of the things why many players sucked with terra in sc1. never repaired.
Then I wonder what happens once money maps are available (i assume none are yet?). Attack the command center and all mining scv's go crazy. rofl.

More units in SP? I should stop reading. That just sounds stupid.

Someone wanna explain to me why this game is so expensive, even though it's really only 1/3rd of a game?

If anyone's having overheating issues in Bnet Menus...
Here's why:
Anyone else have StarCraft II try to melt their hardware? Blizzard admits that it's a known issue and has a fix for you.

Apparently, the game's menu screens aren't framerate-limited. This means that when there's nothing else going on, your graphics hardware renders the bejeezus out of those screens, causing nasty overheating problems. The fix is easy, requiring players to add the following lines to your "Documents\StarCraft II\variables.txt" file.

frameratecapglue=30
frameratecap=60

Good to know.

also Official system reqs

The solution is that simple yet they couldn't have done it themselves after having god knows how long to make the game? Am I being unreasonable, or is it unacceptable that such a stupid error got past their testing?

Do people ever get the "Forge". If it is only to give me photon cannons, then I might just start skipping it.

Its not. Its a whole game.
What you should be asking is why are we paying 60 dollars for what is pretty much an enhanced version of a 12 year old game.

The answer is: It was one of the most fun games ever made and having an improved version 12 years later really isnt a bad thing.
If Ion Storm and Black Isle were still in business I should hope they would make an enhanced Deus Ex and Baldurs Gate. If Microprose were still around I would want an enhanced Master of Orion 2.

is there a way to manually view the intro cutscene again? I launched the game, went to get a drink and came back and the intro was wrapping up.
Before your missions, there is a screen where you can pick previous missions to do, and watch old cutscenes. I know I saw it starting on my 4th mission, not sure if that was there earlier.

Nice try! Everybody knows that this is a full game. Except for trolls and idiots that can't comprehend common sense. I'll let you decide which you are.

I'm actually starting to like the chat windows. It allows conversations with multiple groups (whereas chat channels meant you could only talk to your main group in your chat channel (some people might not be welcome there). Facebook integration was awesome: instant adding of all friends.

It can be turned off (right-click repair icon), but yeah. Blizzard overdid themselves in reducing the necessary APM for this game - which is why the stereotyping of SC2 as an APM-fest is always silly in my eyes.

@BO - Lol was the Forge question serious, or just a joke?

Can't beleive that SC2 guest passes are going for between 3 and 5 dollars on ebay. Shouldn't Bliz put a stop to that??

Just like Monkey Island Special Edition, and LeChuck's Revege Special Edition. Exactly the same game to such extent that the old game actually ran beneath it.

My two favorite adventure games and I was like a little kid on Christmas day when each came out, even though it was basically the same game merely polished up with fancy graphics and spoken dialogue.

I'm not sure how people who loved the first game can be disappointed with Starcraft 2. This is a game made for their loyal fans, as quoted by the developers. Just be happy they didn't go Command & Conquer 4 up in here :p

monkey island special edition is such a great game. I was so happy to see that it held to the original and you could toggle between them.

So far, i'm pretty satisfied w/ SC2 as well. I still like warcraft 3 better though, but thats purely a personal preference! ::hides:;

The campaign is great so far.

The missions much more variety, and there is a lot more atmosphere and side stuff to do. There are also degrees on non-linearty, which is nice.

The only lacking part is plot-side, although I believe this is because I'm still in the early stages of the game. I'm still doing menial tasks, like resource collecting or hunting artifacts.

I'm enjoying the campaign so far. Once I start playing multiplayer I'm sure I'll get destroyed. I'm not good at micro.
