Anyone else have StarCraft II try to melt their hardware? Blizzard admits that it's a known issue and has a fix for you.
Apparently, the game's menu screens aren't framerate-limited. This means that when there's nothing else going on, your graphics hardware renders the bejeezus out of those screens, causing nasty overheating problems. The fix is easy, requiring players to add the following lines to your "Documents\StarCraft II\variables.txt" file.
frameratecapglue=30
frameratecap=60
Good to know.
Someone wanna explain to me why this game is so expensive, even though it's really only 1/3rd of a game?

Its not. Its a whole game.
What you should be asking is why are we paying 60 dollars for what is pretty much an enhanced version of a 12 year old game.
The answer is: It was one of the most fun games ever made and having an improved version 12 years later really isnt a bad thing.
If Ion Storm and Black Isle were still in business I should hope they would make an enhanced Deus Ex and Baldurs Gate. If Microprose were still around I would want an enhanced Master of Orion 2.
Before your missions, there is a screen where you can pick previous missions to do, and watch old cutscenes. I know I saw it starting on my 4th mission, not sure if that was there earlier.is there a way to manually view the intro cutscene again? I launched the game, went to get a drink and came back and the intro was wrapping up.

Do people ever get the "Forge". If it is only to give me photon cannons, then I might just start skipping it.
lol @auto-repair. Is this true? omg, that was like one of the things why many players sucked with terra in sc1. never repaired.
Then I wonder what happens once money maps are available (i assume none are yet?). Attack the command center and all mining scv's go crazy. rofl.
More units in SP? I should stop reading. That just sounds stupid.
It can be turned off (right-click repair icon), but yeah. Blizzard overdid themselves in reducing the necessary APM for this game - which is why the stereotyping of SC2 as an APM-fest is always silly in my eyes.
@BO - Lol was the Forge question serious, or just a joke?
would totally buy a true DE successor.. and BG3.. my god. that'd bring tears to my eyes. i must have beaten BG2 10x now.

Just like Monkey Island Special Edition, and LeChuck's Revege Special Edition. Exactly the same game to such extent that the old game actually ran beneath it.
My two favorite adventure games and I was like a little kid on Christmas day when each came out, even though it was basically the same game merely polished up with fancy graphics and spoken dialogue.
I'm not sure how people who loved the first game can be disappointed with Starcraft 2. This is a game made for their loyal fans, as quoted by the developers. Just be happy they didn't go Command & Conquer 4 up in here![]()
Can't beleive that SC2 guest passes are going for between 3 and 5 dollars on ebay. Shouldn't Bliz put a stop to that??
If people are willing to pay for them why would Blizzard give a shit?
