Is it just me, or does Starcraft II simply doesn't feel as epic as the original when it came out? Sure the cutscenes are nice but if the original cutscents felt like short movies, these feel like something else entirely, possibly because they are made with the game engine...
Don't get me wrong, the cutscene graphics are amazing, very detailed, etc... But somehow it just doesn't feel right.

Also, I cant shake this "happy" feel the game engine gives. I feel like I am in some sort of a silly cartoon, rather than a serious war taking place on distant worlds in space.

There are both types of cutscenes. Some are in game and rendered in real time. Others are actual prerendered movies. They do the in game stuff in order to give more dialogue and story than what they could do originally.

Liking the game thus far (played SP only) but am a bit underwhelmed. Perhaps it was just TOO hyped up heh.

Blizzard completely mucked up multiplayer IMO, but single player seems alright.

Overall I'm slightly disappointed.

I agree. My favorite part of SC1, D2, and WAR3 was gaming with my clan, but the way Battle.net 2.0 (more like Battle.net .02 compared to the features of the old Battle.net) is set up, I probably won't even be able to find anyone from my clan to game with. I'm really upset with Blizzard for leaving clan channels (and all chat channels) out of Battle.net 2.0. Meeting people in a channel and setting up games with them was awesome. Even when I didn't feel like gaming, I could just hang out in my clan channel and chat with other members. Now I can only chat with people on my friends list? They didn't really add any useful features; hell, they pretty much removed more features than they added.

Yeah, I would never have even considered preordering from gamestop had it not been for the free beta key. That was totally worth my 5 dollars. If they don't have it again today, I'm leaving with my fiver.

I thought I wouldn't get this on 27th, but Dell rocked the World and shipped on 26th and got this on the next day.

Someone beat it in 16 hours playing straight from launch. It will vary from person to person.

12 years since the last game, I don't know why people rush through it.

Personally, I'm trying to get every bonus objective/achievement as I go through the campaign, rather than just completing the mission.

You always lose something going from an original to a sequel. The original is always more awesome because it is fresh and new.

It is a good, fun game, but not great, IMO. I don't like the limited camera control, the subpar graphics, or the happy, dippy Warcraft-esque art style. Starcraft really is just a cheap ripoff of the WH40K universe, and that is the impression I get playing it.

This game will take up a chunk of my time over the next month or so, but it won't make me reconsider my all time fav RTS list, which has CoH, DoW, WiC, WBC, and AoE on it.

No way I could do that. I spend a ton of time talking to everyone on the ship after each mission, watching the news and trying to figure out what upgrades I want. Love it.

Just like others have said it seems too easy. I'm not a hardcore RTS player but have played tons of other RTS's. I've played 5 missions since release and they are all too easy on normal compared to every other RTS that I've played on normal. I'm gonna turn up the difficulty. Normal on every other RTS I've played still gives you a challenge. This gives me zero. Gonna play on Hard tonight.

Haha turn it up to Brutal (which is what any experienced player should be doing). Just don't be complaining if you get demoralized haha. But yeah normal is seriously for noobs - this was a concern for me, as I've posted on this before (beta thread)?

Easy mode shouldn't even exist though.

Same here.. gonna bump it up to Hard. Normal is way too easy.

I've never played an RTS that came close to challenging me on normal.
