I had two pre orders from gamestop, one normal and one collector's edition.

They randomly canceled my CE order, and the normal order still hadn't shipped.

So I canceled the normal order too, and walked in a bought two collector's editions from Walmart.

(By the way, I originally was getting the CE as a birthday present for a relative, and the normal edition myself. I decided to bump up to a CE for myself, hence buying 2 CEs from Walmart.)

So basically you can only have 1 battleNet account for SC2?

Is the dvd required to play it? or is the 1 time online activation enough?

Nope. Don't need the DVD to play, it's the exact same installation as if you downloaded the client from the account page on Battle.net

Loving the game, so far. Been playing the campaign on Hard and I'm on mission 6.

Only technical issue I've had so far is that sometimes the game will stutter at the beginning of a mission. Running 5870 in Crossfire with the new 10.7 drivers.

Try disabling crossfire? I don't think it uses it anyways. It certainly doesn't need it, lol.

Yeah, I'll try that when I get back home from grocery shopping.

Was actually playing the beta with Crossfire disabled, because it made certain parts of the map invisible (usually edges) and you're right, it doesn't run any better using both cards :p

Anyone feeling a Mass Effect 2 vibe when playing the SP campaign? The "in-between mission" segments include picking planets on where your next mission is, upgrading at the armory/laboratory, and every character pretty much has something new to say between each mission. I'm not saying it's a bad thing, I actually like it. The presentation is very well done and actually makes you feel like you're in the Starcraft universe.

Being a fan of RTS's other than SC and never really played the original SC that much, I had to turn down the difficulty to normal in order to be able to complete some of the achievements. I'm hoping the campaign will prepare me enough for playing the Terrans during MP.

BTW completely worth $60, coming from a person who isn't a SC fanatic.
Recently when playing a flash game online I was bombarded by ads which at first I thought were Mass Effect 2. Turned out to be Starcraft 2. So yes, STRONG feeling there that one of them ripped off the other.

Is alt+tabbing painfully slow for anyone else? I don't know if I have to upgrade my comp to make the playing experience smoother :(

Apparently the concept of a preorder means entirely something different to gamestop than it does to me.

Me: Hi, I'm here to pick up Starcraft 2. I preordered months ago.
GS: Did you pay in full?
Me: I'm about to right now.
GS: Sorry, we dont have enough to go around.
Me: But you'd have one if I paid already?
GS: We only got 30 out of the 50 we were supposed to get.
Me: How about I pay you now, and you give me one of the 30 you obviously still have.
GS: I'm sorry sir, we don't have enough to go around. Its hard to get on launch day. Some people preordered just days ago, we didnt get enough.
Me: Isnt that why I preordered months ago? The guy said put down 5 bucks, pick it up launch day. It's launch day. I have money with me. I'm ready to give it to you. Can I have SC2, now, please?
GS: No.

Fuck you, Gamestop. Theyre supposed to have it today, but never, never again.

I don't know why people even bother with Gamestop. Walmart almost always has games in stock and there's never a line or anything like that.

I got a free beta key when I preordered. Pretty good perk IMO.

If you mean Battle.net 2.0, perhaps. If you mean the actual game-play, I would disagree.

I mean battle.net 2.0.. its like they took a giant leap backwards. I liked that b.net offered chat rooms and clan management and whatnot. I liked being able to choose which particular custom game to join and not see a L4D style oh I can play this map randomjoin window... that seems like a very bad system considering many of the most popular maps for WC3 would have the host put which game options they would pick in the title. Meh.

FWIW, My local target had a bunch of SC2's in stock. No fanfare, no special display, but at least 8 copies were sitting on the shelf when I checked last night near closing time. There were also some CE copies.

I was burned by gamestop before as well, on WoW. Luckily there was a local game store that was very intelligent and literally preordered hundreds of copies even though they technically hadn't sold them yet. Best part was you got the freebies for pre-ordering this way too! Meanwhile gamestop couldn't even fill the preorders they took.

My CE was waiting for me when I got home yesterday. Installed and updated no problem. Then decided to update my video drivers before playing. When I rebooted, shortly after hitting the windows loading screen...the computer restarted. It kept doing it over and over, in an endless loop. It's been doing this for the past 2 weeks despite loading several backups, so I decided a complete reinstall was in order. 5 hours later windows was completely updated, and SC2 was reinstalled, and of course it was past my usual bedtime. I didn't even get to play a single damn second of starcraft. Tonight, zerg shall die.

Played it for about two hours last night, single player only. Really enjoying it so far. I've been playing it on hard... haven't played an RTS in probly 2 years. It has been quite difficult, although I've only had real trouble with one mission (welcome to the jungle). I, personally, think the graphics and cut scenes, etc. are done quite well.

If anyone has any guest passes they can part with, I would love one. I am going to be stubborn and wait to buy the game until I can get it for 50 or less.

heh trying to save 10-20bux and not playing an awesome game.. interesting

If you watch hotdeals OR kmart you can find the game for less. Check slickdeals.net

I played about a dozen missions and felt a little bit underwhelmed by the single player campaign. Even when I crank up the difficulty, there isn't any intensity felt throughout the game.

My other big disappointment was the presentation of the game. Graphically, I didn't have high expectation, but the game looks worse than older gen games like command & conquer. The units themselves are presented with very little details and are very difficult to differentiate between each others.
The sound effects are also underwhelming. You get very little audio feedback when you are blowing stuff up. The voice acting is even worse with some pretty bad writing overall. I would much rather have a CGI scene between every few missions than dealing with Raynor's corny lines. It just spoils the SP experience.

I disagree with everything in this post.

Things get pretty intense, especially on brutal. The graphrics are great. Units are SO easy to distinguish, it almost takes no time at all. Sound is good, writing is good too (very terran)0. Voice acting is perfect.

This guy is craaaazy
