Here's the deleted scene that works. It was in the novelization of this movie.

Now they need to show how Poe Dameron was rescued after they crashed in Jakku, manages to get off-planet and rejoins the resistance.

I definitely think that fan enthusiasm is down a lot for star wars especially now that we have the Marvel and DC universes on film, Pixar films, etc there's been an explosion in fantastical creativity in cinema in the past twenty years that wasn't around when Star Wars was big. There's a lot more competition in that space.

Is this a joke? I'll grant you there's more competition, but the competition is dogshit. DC MARVEL etc BS is dogshit.

They can be but generally speaking, they aren't. As an example, women are 14.5% of the active army. They are quite underrepresented there, and for good reason. Women in the Army are also allowed a relaxed physical fitness measure, which is fine because combat is largely technological now, but could be a problem in certain situations.

Like, an inversion of roles stops being interesting when it becomes the predominant norm. Patriarchal societies exist for a reason, and portraying something different, as I said can be interesting but also risks alienating the audience. Which is why people weren't so enthusiastic about EP VII. It tried too hard on the SJW yardstick.

2/8 is the new predominant norm, everybody. you heard it here first.

it was nice that it wasn't going to be "that long" till the next chronological one came out, a 2 year turn around not as good.

In my day, we had to wait THREE years for a new SW movie!

/growls and barks - get off my lawn, punk!

🙂

So, am I wrong or does the name imply foreshadowing that Luke is gonna buy it to become one with the force?

I guess, but I think Hammill recently tweeted about preparing for the 3rd one, sort of giving away that he'll survive this next one. Could have been a lying jerk, though.

The interesting thing is that with this being a predestined trilogy, are they going to try and balance things with the FO getting the ability to cripple them in some manner, or will it strictly be them taking all three films to reform and the "enemy" being more of a constant threat to deal with vice a force capable of becoming a main driving plot point.

100% in the past two years. And in the next few years, there will be a lot of fighting females. Women can do combat but really, by and large their role is not combat.

The starkiller base was a mistake. I wish we could have seen the first order take a Guerrilla warfare approach instead of the super weapons. Let the New Republic be the dominant power, but show case the difficulty in the good guys now having to lead and deal with an enemy using their own tactics against them. It would be something new in addition to having overtones of problems faced in real life. Blowing up these big budget superweapons constantly however is just getting comical.

If people wanted to watch movies about things that happened in normal people's lives, they'd just stare out the window.

You need to have popular support to carry out a guerrilla war. Maybe there are some hardcore Imperial worlds but I doubt the republic would want those anyway.

Fondor and Kuat would have been fierce supporters of the Empire as their prosperity was outright built on making the Emperor's war machine. With their economy and livelihoods likely destroyed following the battle of Endor, it is likely they would have viewed the battle as an act of terrorism, backing imperial remnants like the First Order much in the way Alderaan had aided the rebels for years.

Youre a blathering dumbass.

Patriarchy and women in combat arent anywhere near the same exact thing. Neither are women in government or positions of leadership or respect anything close to exactly the same as women in combat.

Im not going to give desura credit by quoting him, but I was not impressed with Episode 7. It definitely seems like it was a movie made by white feminists, and they didnt seem to give a fuck about playing stereotypes or how they might be portraying any people of color, most particularly Finn.
