Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker (Episode IX)

yeah, watching all that mess, all I could think was that there wasn't an actual story or consistent character arch over the last two movies...what is this actual "saga" that they are trying to advertise?

All I remember from those two movies now is a bunch of cartoon things happening on the screen that sometimes involved aged versions of long-ago childhood heroes.

now suddenly..the emperor is a thing and despite the last two flicks having some bad guy behind everything, now really there is this other bad guy behind everything. Good job, Disney. Way to not give a dick, as long as the billions are guaranteed, and they are, lol.
I haven't seen a SW film since the first from Disney (VII The Force Awakens), so I didn't watch "Solo," "Rogue One," or "The Last Jedi."

I suppose I'm just done with Star Wars unless there's reason to believe creative control was radically altered for a future film. It's clear to me that TFA was developed by a committee and the plot suffered because of that.

TFA was just terrible and I can't bring myself to care about Star Wars anymore. Watching more than the trailer feels like a complete waste of time. 🙁

I'm not super excited for this, like I was Force Awakens (the start of a new trilogy), but I'll definitely see it in theaters. I liked the final trailer. Agreed with the guy above that said "too much analysis."

Going to wait for this one to come to video. Went to see the last two at the theater and they were disappointing. So I'm in no rush to be disappointed again.

Saw a realistic leak of the story that yes they have mailed it in, although that wouldn't be much of a surprise really. Might still be worth it to see the visuals at some point.

It had Rey's parents being a descendant of Palpentine.

I feel bad for them, they can't really write anything new that will make the fan base happy. So they slapped together a watered down plot and film it. However if JJ is the writer then it will be pretty bad.

Reserved my tickets today.
Sadly I can’t end the saga where it began, that theater was demolished around 25 years ago. I will end the saga in the same city.

Looks like Disney decided to throw as many ROTJ references at the screen as possible.

Palpatine again?

I am guessing Rey and Kylo even duel in front of the emperor.

Let me guess. Rey is actually Palpatine’s niece through marriage.

Palpatine was secretly a gigolo on the side to make some extra creds. Rey is just one of his numerous unexpected offspring. This is coming from a credible source.

I really expect to quite like this one, but I do agree with others in that it sure seems like there will be some strongly repeated elements in this. That said, I don't even care because this is the culmination of a nine movie story and this latest/last trailer got the hype flowing.

I think my favorite and strongest rumors are that the whole idea of force ghosts is going to come to a head in this film, finally. There may be some taking over of bodies, even. These are fresh ideas in this story universe. And of course I totally expect Rey to be a Skywalker in the end, some long-lost relative "nobodies" that keeps Kylo correct in his description of her parents, while still leaving open the Skywalker relation. Honestly I won't mind any of that, in fact do want some of the force ghost discussions to prove correct.

I swore I wouldn’t see it, but the train wreck looks so bad that I may not be able to look away. The Last Jedi is the only Star Wars movie (so far) that I refused to buy a copy on Blu Ray. Will this be the second?

Seems like they need one more movie; this should take the place of TLJ (which should be erased from history.)

I was excited for TLJ after seeing its trailer, but the movie was a massive disappointment.

Earlier in the thread when the name was released, and particularly the foreign translations, I tossed out how it would not be inconceivable for a resurrection of sorts for Luke based on the material from the other media sources.

Was reading a "easter egg" breakdown for the lasr trsiler that went heavy into one of those sources concerning the force "angels"(?), and I have to admit that would be a pretty brazen route for the live film series even though it's been contained in multiple animated episodes/series at this point.

obviously from your omission of 4-6 you would hate it if they rebooted 4-6, and therefore logically that is what they will do.

Can't wait for A New Hope reboot with Shia Lebouf as Luke and Kristen Stewart as Leia. Ice Cube will be playing Obi Wan Kenobi and Vader will be voiced by Michele Rodriguez.
