Do you have a digital theater near you?

In a Theater Far, Far Away ...

When he began shooting Star Wars Episode II in an all-digital format, George Lucas imagined that Attack of the Clones could screen in 2,000 digital-projection theaters nationwide. Oh, well. As of the May 16 opening, only 19 screens had the equipment required to do so. Here's where to find them.

I'll be seeing it there myself.

It's no suprise that only a few theaters have this capability. The technology is expensive, around $150,000 to install if I remember correctly, and not too many theater owners are going to see the point of switching since the only ones saving money are the studios who no longer have to pay for prints.

Guess everyone has had enough of the Star Wars stuff.
Well...
Guess what, there is more coming, much more in the weeks ahead.
And there is nothing you can do about it.

That will vary from theater to theater.
You might call where you want to see it at and check to see what they are doing.

It depends, some places are already selling tickets and some aren't. A friend at work already has his tickets to AOTC and Spiderman.

As long as the picture quality is good and the sound is great and the story doesn't suck I don't care.

I used to live less than a mile from that first theater listed in Peoria, AZ. Now I'm about 40 minutes away, but you'd better believe I'll be there Wednesday night.

what's even lamer is that it will suck at these 19 digital theaters. THe DLP projectors they use produce a ton of artifacts, can't handle a camera pan without breaking up, and don't know the meaning of the word black either.

of course blacks aren't always the best in regular theaters either.
