latest controversy: pay to win mechanic for large ships
they came up with blade modules to help automate large ships with multiple crew stations and other equipment modules(gunner station, bomb racks, etc). said blades were purchase only and not available any other way so P2W advantage.
players raised the riot flag and cig walked it back somewhat by making some of the blades available with ingame currency and blaming poor communication.
the bigger issue is the money grab suggests they are finally running out of money. publicly released total money spent vs total raised is getting close to each other meaning fundraising has finally squeezed the fans dry. the limited number of whales remaining cant make up for the general lack of incoming money. squadron42 needs to bring in a ton of new people/money and even then the chances of them finishing the open world game seems in doubt with their current burn rate.
