Last night I got into Port Olisar. I pulled up chat. I asked if anyone had a multi crew ship they would allow me a ride along in. Some guy responds that he has a Tali and would be happy to take me for a spin.

Then the chat lights up with others wanting to join.

Like moths to a light, I stood out on pad A10 waiting for everyone to return to PO. It was awesome. Tali owner shows up and calls up his Tali to A9....we all orderly file in. Every position was manned. I was on the bottom middle turret. I didn't realize that thing has six turrets!

We fly around and wipe up pirates at comm link stations. We then find a friendly Connie who asks if the torpedoes in a Tali work. They do (he asked to be shot at, head on, so he could see the torpedo coming). We give him a full load of torpedoes and go to Cry Astro for more (they don't give us more :-( ).

I sat there, drinking Titos Vodka (String looks like we had something in common last night..was my wife's idea as well).

I just rode along. Just watching. And chatting to random strangers crewing a beautiful ship.

+42 for the good times.

That's awesome. I've had a few people on my Tali, but never fully crewed like that.

BTW, it is only five turrets. Three on top (forward, aft left, aft right) and two on the bottom (forward and aft). Plus the engineer plus the pilot makes seven people total. It's an awesome ship and a lot of fun if you get enough people together.

I can understand why some people might have problems playing games if they get motion sickness. I've been on heavy doses of Vicodin for the past few days and I can't play because I get sick right away.

This is my favorite way to play on the weekends(a little tipsy hehe). I log in and join Olisar then hit the chat key and just starting shooting the shit with the other guys. Before I know it I'm gunning a turret or like last week going toe to toe against 7 other people in my Avenger around Yala.

+42 for goods times indeed.

Thanks for the clarification Sabre. When you're drinking Titos, five turrets becomes six. 🙂

Where is the engineer station? I don't recall seeing that.

It's between the rear torp bay and the central airlock. The doors to the room are on the inner side of the corridor right before the torp bay glass starts.

I know how it goes. Working on some gin right now myself, with some beers to follow it up. 😀

Sithsolo's directions get you there. I would say just head aft through either corridor, then turn inboard at the first door you see. Just a small room with a window into the aft bomb bay and an engineering console.

As soon as we have a good group system in place, I'd love to be able to join you in an instance and take a tour of your Tali!

I honestly don't remember that room. But that ship is so damn big.....I was running to the front in order to get a turret spot!

So the split is now official.

If you want in you basically have two starter packages to choose from now:

Aurora MR
Mustang Alpha

Both are $45. Add another $15 if you want Squadron 42 as well.

I found it interesting that they got rid of some of the starter packages (Aurora LN, 300i to name two).

So has this already gone to cashgrab part 2?

If you didn't go aft, then no wonder you didn't see it. You can ride any time. You can fly too, as I like flying turret on the Tali, Vanguard, and Lancer. Only the Cutlass and Connies really suck at the moment.

During the Free Fly period I was playing mostly with the ships that they made available and which I do not have (Hornet F7C and Mustang Delta).

Now that Free Fly is over, I played a little more with my Aurora LN.
- It is slower and more sluggish (less maneuverable).
- The standard weapons are weak. CF-007 Bulldog Repeaters also are overheating after a relatively short period of time (and since they have low damage per shot, you have to fire with them a lot).
- The standard missiles from Aurora LN (Dominator II) are almost useless, at least from longer range. And with Aurora's top speed, even with afterburners, you can not chase a fast ship that runs away from you. In Arena Commander Cruise speed is disabled, so you can not compensate with that.
- It can sustain a reasonable amount of damage, even collisions with other ships (some players were ramming me, and with Aurora's slow maneuverability I could not dodge them every time).

Here is a Battle Royale match with my Aurora LN:

https://youtu.be/PF6tOQ8ynPE

I moved the M3A Laser Cannons from the wings to the whisker mounts and installed CF-117 Badger Repeaters instead (on the Size 2 gun mounts from the wings).

Bugs encountered:
- in the beginning of the video, you can see the overlay of the previous enemy that destroyed my ship; this bug is very annoying because it blocks your vision right in the screen center;
- several game freezes, for up to 7 seconds each;
- Broadsword/Longsword sound bug (you can hear those guns from other ship, even when they are very far away and you should not hear them).

I usually leave the match if the sound bug becomes prevalent. It's just too disorienting, and I hope they change the texture of it a bit once they figure it out so I never have to hear it again.
