I'll just put this here:

I know people are getting a little tired of weekly ship sales but for anyone sitting on a Starfarer they will be releasing new info(update stats, images, etc) tomorrow. It will also be put up for sale again along with possibly the Military Variant upgrade aka the Starfarer Gemini. The one pictured above is the stock model people have pledged for in the past.

For those who have been enjoying Arena Commander, the v1.1.2 patch was launched today. Its about 20GB. https://robertsspaceindustries.com/comm-link/transmission/14703-Star-Citizen-Alpha-112-Released

An update on the FPS module status is due out later today, I'll edit the post once I see it.

Spoilers are needed in space!

Someone seems to forget that just about all of these ships are capable of atmospheric flight as well, in which airfoils/spoilers would come in handy for added control surfaces and/or aerodynamics.

I might consider the upgrade to the military variant. Personally the way I have been treating the ships I have as the go-to for the more dangerous usage. I also don't mind sending a few bucks for continued development, as I already like what has been released and hope for the future releases to continue to get better and better. Things are just starting to come together in terms of the game as a whole. The next 6 months will be very interesting.

I almost just lost my coffee on my screen here at work. A spoiler is REALLY going to make that thing airborne, huh? Good joke.

Very cool video but what kind of computer do we need to run this game?

Well that's hard to say since the game is still in its very early stages and really hasn't been optimized that much as of yet. Currently to run it at a decent framerate the current minimum specs seem to be:

CPU: i5 or greater (Sandy Bridge & up are just fine)
RAM: 8 GB minimum, game currently seems to like more RAM
GPU: GTX 960/ R9 280X (can go lower depending on how low you turn down detail & resolution)

Keep in mind that this game will take all the horsepower you throw at it and use it.

I think this montage pretty much sums it up. There is NO OTHER GAME with this kind of scope, and I am utterly stoked.

Today I learned that the future will be exclusively populated with bald/helmeted/plastic-haired white men that all look the same, all armed with 20th-century-era machine guns despite ships being able to levitate and travel to distant star systems.

JK. Sorta. I know it's early still and that they will flesh out the game some more.

Lazors on ships...bullets in handheld guns. Hah.

So have you guys been playing any of the Vanguard mini-game that was released? I'm currently ranked 85th (only just unlocked the 3rd stage hyperpink difficulty).

Not going to touch this game until I upgrade my PC a few years from now or maybe next year. Isn't this game due out in 2016?

You can play the mini-game. Squadron 42 is attempting to be out the end of this year/early next year, with the persistent universe comming out shortly after. I am waiting on upgrading my computer as well. I might just do the graphics card, but will think about the rest of the system (currently have a I7-3770+16GB RAM and 670 GTX (didn't want to spend much on the graphics card a couple years ago since I knew this game was in progress and would destroy all existing cards thrown at it).

The FPS update was interesting....especially the before/after videos/pics.

But I think CIG is making a mistake in telling us anything about anything before release. I understand they're trying to build hype and get funding, but sometimes I wish they'd just keep the development secret until release.

That's the traditional big publisher method, I love that SC is not like that. We get so much transparency, you actually get so much insider info and that's great to have. For those who actually care about the development of the game (and likely pledged money), it's very rewarding stuff.

If someone is only interested in playing on launch, then they can go bury their head in the sand (aka just don't read anything about the dev process) and enjoy it when it comes out.
