Immature people find things funny all the time that normal people do not.

As for the SC HOTAS, with few updates from Saitek and their long term future questionable, I'm not holding my breath.

Yeah, same here. Their prototypes were really not something I would have considered customized for Star Citizen or any space flight game. I personally wouldn't consider anything that you can not use with a single hand (preferably ambi-dextrous) that gives you a minimum of 5 precision control axis for these types of games. This frees up your other hand for use on a mouse or keyboard, and you use a pedal setup for the 6th axes (6th dof) and thruster/speed control. This lets you optimally control all movement with the stick and feet while letting your other hand deal with aiming gimballed weapons or perform other important actions. Combine with VR or TrackIR for camera/look control and VoiceAttack for macro-commands and you actually have appropriate level of controls for a space sim.

Yes, please gtfo unless you're going to talk about the game.

I know there's a bunch of idiots out there that hate on the game; but they do it out of ignorance.

I was skeptical for the first few years and barely took interest. After I saw the alpha 2.0 was released, I decided to take a risk, and the first few nights of gameplay alone were worth the price of admission.

So.. what's the process for getting a user banned from this forum?

You can ignore him (or any forum poster).

Personally, I don't ignore most of the Star Citizen haters. Sometimes they bring up valid points worthy of thought and discussion. Sometimes.

PSA: Another Free-fly week begins this Friday.

This week's AtV dropped hints (as always):
- Reliant flyable being tested
- Shopping areas in Port Olisar and PIRATE BASE in greybox design stage for addition to the PU (pirate base? what pirate base?)
- 2.4 content locked at the moment. Now in QA before hitting PTU soon (tm)
- MISC Prospector (small mining ship) is $140 on sale starting next Friday

I try to, but he's relentless, and it's clearly purposeful trolling. He's not lobbing meaningful criticism at all. He hasn't even touched the game.

And a free $5 coupon if you were "fooled" in April 1st.

I remember some discussions about a pirate station where you will re-spawn if you were a criminal.

Monthly Studio Report March 2016

Foundry 42 Frankfurt

Design

Our Level Designers are hard at work building major landing areas that will be used in the Persistent Universe in the future. Port Olisar is getting a lot of work done and a brand new Shopping District will get added to the existing facilities. This should allow players easy access to NPCs, shops, utilities and will make the place feel a lot more alive than it is right now. We are also adding a pirate/lawless base where players that have been a bit “naughty” can respawn after dying or where they can just dock without getting shot out of the sky by the law enforcement. This area will have its disadvantages when compared to a law abiding station of course, so players who do wrong will have to support the consequences. (Remember that the area around Crusader is UEE space. In an unclaimed or unrepresented system, the opposite might be true!) Another area that is receiving a lot of attention is the Hurston landing zone. This will consist of a large planetary settlement cantered around the Hurston family building and its gigantic strip mining operations. This area right now has gone through its layout phase and is moving towards the first art pass.

Thanks Seba! I missed that part in the monthly report. Exciting stuff (even though I plan to be a "good" guy).

Played for the first time in about 6 months on my new computer.

Game looks great, even at medium or low settings. Flew around in the Constellation Andromeda for a little bit before heading to bed. Excited to see where this goes in the next year as Squadron 42 gets closer to release and the PU gets up and running.

That is exciting stuff. I'm curious to see how that's going to turn out, as I would expect that base to be under constant attack / defense (unless they have an automated disarm like they do at Olisar....I think this will be likely as it might be impossible to even get a ship spawned otherwise).

Taking a break from the game is great to do sometimes. I haven't played since early March at this point. I went out of town for business for several weeks and haven't gotten back into it yet. Not that I don't want, just that my interest is elsewhere. With my Vive coming Monday, I probably won't be touching it for a while (except PTUs if I still get invites and can help) unless they spring forward with VR support.

Speaking of VR support, I'd be totally happy with walking around on the monitor then when you sit down in a cockpit donning the HMD. The transitions are long enough that it wouldn't be much of a problem. Takes the ship a few extra seconds to boot, too.

Pros
My peers are for the most part an inspiration to work with. The level of talent employed here is truly a blessing for CIG. This team has the ability to do great things. Some of the best people in the world work for this company. No question.

Cons
I feel this has become a losing battle with engine. There are so many issues that we have encountered because of the inability to actually upgrade it. We are in such a corner with this that its bound us to some pretty severe limitations that it might take much longer to fix. If it weren't for the fact that we have many former Crytek folks on board, this would be even worse.

Senior Staff has become a concern. The company needs a "No" man and many of us though Erin would have been this person but so far, nobody is really pointing out to Chris that the longer he drags this out, the worse the criticism and ridicule will get. It breaks my heart to see avid fans/supporters openly express frustration at hearing that the thing they were most interested in is either being reworked (again) or pushed back to a later date. It is truly a drain on our morale.

Financials are starting to concern many in the company. We are not getting a confident reassurance from within the company which leads many of us to wonder what is really going on. The response that has been put forth when inquired about this was " It is not your place to worry about financials, just do the job you were given" The growing concerns from many backers in regards to the original TOS and the new TOS Financial deadline of May is starting to become worrisome as even we don't know what to expect. The product as presented now is really not a game and for CIG Upper management to keep calling it one in an attempt to skirt the TOS Promise made seems disingenuous.

Advice to Management
I personally feel that is honestly time to be frank with our staff, and to an even greater extent, our customers and reveal our financials if we are close to bankruptcy as the internal rumors are hinting at. If this is not the case, please know that as of right now, many feel that this isn't being communicated well enough.

To Chris directly: Many of us feel that we can not approach management without fear of reprisal. This seriously needs to be addressed and soon otherwise we are going to lose some top tier talent within the next few weeks.
lots of stuff has happened with regards to cig in the last 3 days.
