The file name was gats_ballistic_cannon_s2 as displayed when I was killed by the player who was creating the buggy sound.

Hmmm.....I'm still guessing "GATS" is Gallenson Tactical Systems. If it was an S2, that would make it a Tarantula. I don't know of any kind of sound bug with those. :hmm:

99% sure those are Broadswords. Definitely a known sound bug with those.

I'm not well versed in weaponry yet. I was just reading off of the screen =)

I know it's a bug, but I had never been able to pin it to anything. And while I've heard that gun used before without the bug, I noticed that it seemed to only be bugged when I crossed someone who was monoboating it.. same thing happened last night.. sound bug? tracked it to a player monoboating those same guns. I actually had to leave the match because of it. just too loud too often.

Currently there are 3 packages that I could get for 50 EUR each:

1. Package - Aurora LN

2. Package - Aurora MR AC Starter

This one seems to have exactly the same content as Package - Squadron 42 Pledge

3. Package - Mustang Alpha AC Starter

---

For all the above packages they list the following included content (besides the ship):
- SelfLand Hangar
- Starting Money: 1,000 UEC
- 3 Month Insurance
- Digital Star Citizen Manual
- Squadron 42 Digital Download
- Star Citizen Digital Download

For all the above packages, except Aurora LN, they also state the following:
Includes everything you need to play Arena Commander today.

This is missing from Aurora LN package description. Does this mean that I would not be able to play Arena Commander with that Aurora LN package?

For Aurora LN package they say:
This package is the former Next Generation Aurora pledge.

Last few days, I played Star Citizen for a few hours during this free fly period. I prefer the handling of the Mustang, but most people seem to say that Aurora is the better starting ship, mostly because Mustang is too fragile.

If I would buy Aurora, is there any reason to choose Aurora MR package instead of Aurora LN package (assuming that both give access to Arena Commander, because if LN does not, then the choice is clear)?

Same here...if somebody is using those I either turn down the sound or leave. It's incredibly annoying - - most people who play BR now follow the unspoken rule of not using them.

Might be seeing those F7Cs with Broadswords because it's Free Fly Week and that's one of the free ships people have access to. Not sure how they would get those guns though, unless the free accounts can still earn REC and rent them.

Get the Aurora MR.

Then, melt it, and get the Aurora LN.

To my understanding, that's the best way to acquire the LN.

However, right now the best bang for your buck is to spend $30 more and get the Avenger. It's a remarkably better ship, imho. That said, if you get the Aurora LN, it's still fairly versatile. It's much better than the MR.

I think once they get that bug ironed out once and for all, they should drop that sound bite completely, and make something new.

Because even if I hear it normally, I've been tormented with that bug long enough that it still bothers me.

Seba get the Aurora LN package. It's the best package right now. If you don't like it, you can convert your LN to a Mustang Alpha at no cost.

The LN has everything you need (both Squadron 42 and Star Citizen, access to Arena Commander (you no longer need a pass for that), insurance, a hangar, ship, some UEC). The MR package has everything you need as well, but the ship itself is weaker than an LN. This is a pricing mistake that CIG has neglected to fix (the MR was in a $30 package that was in limited quantities).

Is there a starter package for the LN? I traded up to an Avenger before I learned about the LN vs MR difference. Last I read it was best to get the MR package, but then trade it for an LN? I could be totally wrong.

Yes, there is an Aurora LN start package. It's the most popular one right now.

I think you might be confusing what you read. Right now a lot of people are telling anyone who purchased a $45 Aurora MR package to trade it for an Aurora LN package.

The reason: they're the same exact package but the LN has a higher ship value (by $10). It's a pricing mistake that CIG hasn't fixed. But when you go to the website and look at starter packages, you see the MR package at the top. You have to scroll down to the LN package. It's caused a LOT of confusion.

Basically, CIG better get their shit together. I think they will on 2/14. I think we'll see all new packages and all new pricing (including selling SQ42 separately). Turbulent is probably working really hard to get this ready.

I barely convinced myself to spend 50 euros. Now you came up with this 82 euro option! :)

Besides the better ship, Avenger Stalker package also includes the following extras compared to those 50 euro packages:

- Aeroview Hangar instead of SelfLand Hangar
- Starting Money: 2,000 UEC (instead of 1,000 UEC) - but that is basically just 1 extra euro
- 6 Month Insurance (instead of 3 months)
- Digital Game Soundtrack
- Digital Star Map

Are any of those worth the extra cost?

That Digital Star Map is just a pdf or it is a in-game map?

In the meantime I found the same information on various threads on RSI Forum. All game packages are now including Arena Commander access, even if it is not mentioned in the description. Thanks for confirming. If I stay with the 50 euro package, I'll get the Aurora LN package.

The LN is the best starter ship. Good choice. You can always upgrade down the road like I did.

I think you're right. I understand why it's the better ship, I just didn't realize it had a package. Everything I was reading did pretty much say 'IF' you have an MR, melt it and switch to the LN.

Yup. But that only applies IF you paid $45 for that MR package.

During the Anniversary (Nov) and Holiday (Dec) sales, that MR package was only $30. After those sales ended that MR package should have been $35. But CIG messed up and priced it at $45.

So anyone buying the MR package at $45 could instead get the better LN for the same price. Thus, melt it and upgrade is the common advice.

Sometimes I wonder if CIG really have a plan. Or if they just make up stuff as they go along.

Example: Last Friday it was announced there would be a Free Fly period. The banner at the top of the website said through Feb 1st. Then the commlink came out and it said one week, so the banner was updated to Feb 5. Then Feb 8th. Now it says Feb 14th.

I know it's minor and I shouldn't read too much into it, but it just seems like they have no clue (sometimes).

On a more positive note....check your hangars (not the real ones, the website ones). CIG just attributed a ton of milestone backer awards.

Played a few hours of BR last night with the 350R, just to see what kind of shape it's in now.

The good news, the bucking seems to be gone now. Ship is FAST, way faster than my M50. Doesn't have nearly the rotation speed though, which is to be expected since it's a much bigger, heavier ship. It's also way easier to black-out, so you have to be pretty careful boosting through turns.

Couple of issues though....I loaded 3X Tarantulas, and I never could get all of them loaded with ammo. Always spawned with one gun empty.

The other thing, it seems much more fragile. I couldn't access the shield in the holotable, so I wasn't able to swap it for the S3, but it definitely feels like glass now. A couple of seconds of Hornet fire and you're toast, which isn't good in a ship this big.

Tried to record the matches with ShadowPlay and none of them saved. Rebooted and it seems to be working, so I'll try to get back in today and upload some video.
