Call of Pripyat is not necessarily "better". It's story makes more sense, but it is a lot shorter, and you only get the coolest upgrades late game when they don't matter at all.
I very much enjoyed all 3 episodes of STALKER, but the 1st one was definitely better than the rest. Possibly because of the creepy factor. The game wasn't so much scary as it was creepy. The atmosphere created by the environment+music literally sent chills down my spine the 1st time I went into the Agroprom tunnels. And the lab X18? Forget about it...
The next two stalkers are all but missing that overwhelming sense of pure dread, but they are very good and incredibly fun nevertheless.

I played the original, I thought the ending was pretty good.
My player sees gold falling from the sky in the the reactor, but in real life he gets crushed by a falling I beam, I think it's because I picked up almost everything and sold it immediately.
I didn't really bother to go after any of the other ones.
I will have to say this, and it's embarrassing, but playing the stalker games is almost an excercise in building your nerves. I'm about 1/4 in COP Complete, the game doesn't have that many jumpy scary moments, but the oozing atmosphere keeps me constantly on edge and nervous. I need a mod that turn all scary stuff into unicorns...
That is funny....I agree...the anticipation is off the hook, especially during a midnight stroll in the zone.

You missed a door to the real endings. I think while you're heading down a corridor, there was another corridor marked by a light that led you further into the game.
Dog gone it, I have an unplayed steam list like a million games long, including Skyrim, but now you have talked me into playing through at least one stalker game yet again! All this will do is make me even more bitter they GSC went out of business and there will not be a Stalker 2... so sad.

Own all 3 games on Steam but haven't got around to play them yet. Always did hear great things about them though. Also @OP what is that overlay that you use to display GPU useage and temps etc?
I don't see how that's possible without a mod. If you joint Duty, Freedom will shoot you on sight, and vice versa. Likewise, joining the bandits will make you enemies with everyone.Any of you guys ever tried joining all the factions during the same playthrough? It's possible but not easy.
