You don't need any mods, but you do need the latest patch, as the faction wars are glitched, sometimes the squads don't follow, or they don't occupy the camps previously cleared by you. Also Freedom is slightly more balanced with Duty, whereas in the previous patches Duty owned Freedom big time.

Another thing to remember is to have manual saves before joining any of the groups and during the assault. You can then join the next neutral faction for a brief moment just to check your real status with the previous enemy faction(e.g. say you are with the bandits and you killed a dozen stalkers, join Freedom briefly and check your status with the stalkers, the idea is to kill as less as possible, not to have them turn hostile to you forever).

Try Bandits, freedom, stalkers, duty.
Bandits are neutral to freedom, enemy to stalkers and Duty. Freedom are neutral to bandits and Stalkers, enemy to Duty(see the pattern?).

The trick is not to kill too many of the opposing faction until you capture their base. Bandits are the least forgiving, usually three kills translates as enemies forever that's why I suggested joining them first.

It also helps your chances a lot if you befriend the future opposing faction to the max prior to attacking them.

No, it will work with any Nvidia card...I have an MSI GTX 570 Twin Frozr III and it works just fine.

Well, as it turns out, the three separate backups I made for my save file of over 50 hours on COP were all corrupt and didn't live through my reformat my painstakingly upgrade weapons and weapons caches all gone.

I have lost all the will to live and to play this shitty game. Fuck me.

I was in the middle of my Misery game. I spent so much time perfecting my build and caches, I don't think I can play anymore

I am doing all sort of crap that I happen to regret after a while. Having a handy save might fix it but it does also ruin the game for me entirely.

Let's say I join Duty and go to the Flea Market stalker guide to have him teleport me inside the Freedom base. It's a lot of fun involved, but I have to kill about 25 Freedom guys, meaning that Freedom will be hostile to me forever. I soon start to regret the earlier fun

I freakin' hate that. Like I literally *started* COP on 3 prior occasions but due to crashes or new builds, etc never finished. Just finished a couple of months ago and it was great. I still think the first is the best however.

I did run into the Limansk save bug....but I made it thru and enjoyed another STALKER play thru.....now I should be good for another 6 months

I highly suggest these games to everyone.

You can buy all 3 off e-bay and have the retail editions of all for the cheap.

You will not need steam on any retail version and no issues modding what so ever.

Great job on the screenshot selection. They remind me why I love these games so much.

The flashlight-lit night scenes always remind me of how eerie STALKER is when traveling at night.
