Anybody know if the latest Clear Sky patch along with the complete mod fixes the crashes to deasktop that the game originally had?

I have the mod installed and it looks quite stunning.

Looks nice.

This one didn't nearly hold my attention like the original. The story is pretty linear, and not all that interesting.

Still a good game. Call of Pripyat is better.

Call of Pripyat is not necessarily "better". It's story makes more sense, but it is a lot shorter, and you only get the coolest upgrades late game when they don't matter at all.

I very much enjoyed all 3 episodes of STALKER, but the 1st one was definitely better than the rest. Possibly because of the creepy factor. The game wasn't so much scary as it was creepy. The atmosphere created by the environment+music literally sent chills down my spine the 1st time I went into the Agroprom tunnels. And the lab X18? Forget about it...

The next two stalkers are all but missing that overwhelming sense of pure dread, but they are very good and incredibly fun nevertheless.

+1, all of this.

Also if you are into mods, many people played COP long before it actually appeared, it was called Priboi mod for the SOC, and meant a totally different game altogether:thumbsup:.

I thought the first 2/3 of CoP were fantastic. It sort of deflated at the end though. For general atmosphere, SoC was amazing. It felt cold and desolate. The camps of stalkers huddled around a fire, the propaganda through the PA in the little city just so... Russky.

SoC was often a little too bright and cheery. Also,
why couldn't the guide (Garik) just take all the army guys back to Yanov?

This is like my third play thru of Clear Sky.

I just wanted to throw it on my new rig to see what it looked like and how it ran.

Got hooked and decided to just play thru the game doing the main quest, so I am using the Wish Granter....talk about fun.....with the best armour, ammo and weapons right from the start of the game....I just waltz thru a military base guns a blazin :D

I was actually planning on playing Batman Arkham City, then this STALKER thing came on.

Here are a few more shots.

I will have to say this, and it's embarrassing, but playing the stalker games is almost an excercise in building your nerves. I'm about 1/4 in COP Complete, the game doesn't have that many jumpy scary moments, but the oozing atmosphere keeps me constantly on edge and nervous. I need a mod that turn all scary stuff into unicorns...

I played the original, I thought the ending was pretty good.

My player sees gold falling from the sky in the the reactor, but in real life he gets crushed by a falling I beam, I think it's because I picked up almost everything and sold it immediately.

I didn't really bother to go after any of the other ones.

:D That is funny....I agree...the anticipation is off the hook, especially during a midnight stroll in the zone.

I remember walking through the bloodsuckers lair while they were sleeping....nerve wrecking indeed. I love it. ;)

The Jupiter Plant was also so incredibly eerie. There is such an ominous atmosphere....without any of the obnoxious cliche that you find in a lot of other scary games. It's all done with incredible art direction and atmosphere.

You missed a door to the real endings. I think while you're heading down a corridor, there was another corridor marked by a light that led you further into the game.

The problem is there's a message, much earlier in the game, on your pda thing that you have to follow in order to open the door. It's from ... Guide? maybe.

That looks beautiful... better than a lot of top tier graphics for games that are out now.

This must be a new world record! You guys successfully managed to talk about all three games in the same thread, without bothering anyone:thumbsup:

Dog gone it, I have an unplayed steam list like a million games long, including Skyrim, but now you have talked me into playing through at least one stalker game yet again! All this will do is make me even more bitter they GSC went out of business and there will not be a Stalker 2... so sad.

I suffer from the same sickness, I always end up playing a STALKER game every few months.

Some more Clear Sky

Any of you guys ever tried joining all the factions during the same playthrough? It's possible but not easy.

Damn this looks amazing, I never even beat the first one because my machine back then was garbage. I think it's time to hit up Steam and buy all of them.

Man, I have such a hard time going back to STALKER. I like the game mechanics improvements of Clear Sky/Call of Pripyat, but Shadow of Chernobyl has much better environments.

The mods I've played for SoC add some depth, but then way overdo it with stupidly powerful artifacts. Kinda wish there was a port of SoC to the CoP engine with upgrades added in, ect.

Own all 3 games on Steam but haven't got around to play them yet. Always did hear great things about them though. Also @OP what is that overlay that you use to display GPU useage and temps etc?

It is EVGA Precision...it is a free download and a nice little program, much like MSI After Burner.

Hey Dust, I have not tried joining all factions in the same playthru, but that does indeed sound very interesting.

I don't see how that's possible without a mod. If you joint Duty, Freedom will shoot you on sight, and vice versa. Likewise, joining the bandits will make you enemies with everyone.

What IS possible is staying neutral with the bandits long enough to finish the PDA quests for their engineer, and getting the best SEVA suit upgrades.
