the vette does beat a stang, and an m3. it is only beat by a small amount by the mclaren, and ford GT. the small difference hardly justifies the price differences (3x for a ford gt, and 10x for a mclaren

I can't find it now, but I have a clip (done by Top Gear? Car+Driver? Don't remember) with a viper/vette/cobra shootout. The 'vette wins every category except straight drag race (viper takes that), Cobra is last, and the 'vette is the cheapest of the bunch.

It's not in the top ten... 😛 That list is not updated. The Carrera GT and the Ford GT is missing. It will probably be pushed down even more if all the cars were tested on a dry track.

I'm not arguing the fact that the Corvette isnt a bang for the buck... because that it is... and that's why I see maybe 20 corvettes a day. 😕

The Carrera GT was 1:19.8. The Ford GT was 1:21.9.

The Corvette C6 they tested the beat to @%#@$# beforehand and by the time Stig tested it, had a nearly dead clutch and 4 bald tires. It should have done better than it did.

The Noble M400 has finished its run with the Stig, and the review will be released for the autumn. Word is it beat everything on the list so far, and, of course, costs about $55k less than the Ford GT. 🙂
 
well .. an SRT4 costs like 20,000 or so .... sure a Vette would kill the hell out of it. But bang for the buck ... I'm thinkin Dodge SRT 4

Eh, I dunno, that doesn't look like your average Corvette. Around these parts though I see nothing but white trash driving Corvettes. In fact, I went to a Chevrolet dealer one time and all the people there looked like rednecks, and the gift shop had all kinds of redneck trinkets for sale.
 
you should really watch the top gear review, and really pay attention to the build quality.

I've watched a couple Top Gear episodes and while I find them entertaining, I find them also INCREDIBLY anti-american. I swear if you took an M3 and rebadged it under a domestic nameplate they'd still find something to bash it about.
 
I'd have to say the SVT Cobra, with 390hp/390fp torque, but if you're young, the insurance cost will quickly extinguish the value.
