what sports car do you think has the most performance for the price? even though its not my favorite, i would have to say its the corvette. i dont think you can find a car that beats it 0-60, or in the quarter mile for a price anywhere near its price...
any thoughts?

sorry, i meant to post this in off topic, not hot deals....

Fox body mustang with about 10-12K in mods. Still cost less than a C6 and would mop the floor with it.

Edit: But let me guess, you were talking about a new car right? Well bang for the buck and new car don't belong in the same sentence IMHO.

if you're only interested in straight line speed, a vette is a good choice. If you're going to be doing any twisties, a vette or stang will leave you planted in a ditch or something. Pick up a WRX STI or Lancer Evo.

Ewww....When I buy a car I want a full package. This thing doesn't even come with power windows does it? It's basically the most bottom line Lancer and dropped the EVO drivetrain in it right?

you have to set a price limit or the question is meaningless.

say below 25k, srt-4

below 30k, impreza wrx sti

below 75k, z06

Well the underlying factor for any car that wants to go fast is power to weight ratio. Frills and gadgets add weight. So less gadgets and frills = less weight, more speed for the amount of power. Four cylinder motors aren't known for making lots of power, especially torque.

i think the lotus elise has to be included too.... its base is under 40,000, and it beats the mitsubishi evo, and the subaru:

Lotus Elise (stats from motortrend)
Price $39,985
Engine 1.8-liter inline-4
Horsepower 190 bhp @ 7800 rpm
Torque 138 lb-ft @ 6800 rpm
Weight 1950 lb
Power-to-weight 1 hp : 10.3 lb
0?60 mph 4.7
1/4 mile 13.4 @ 101.4 mph
Slalom 71.1 mph
Skidpad 0.98g

The RS is a stripped out version which is designed to give you the most speed, rather than the most creature comforts.

I have to agree with the Evo/WRX STI suggestion.
