Wow, you really dont know jack crap about Corvettes, huh?

was the chevette on every car magazine this month!!
it was on my Car & Driver, Motor Trend, and Road & Track mags!!

oh to answer the question
Lotus Elise or BMW M3 😀

Lotus Elise (stats from motortrend)
Price $39,985
Engine 1.8-liter inline-4
Horsepower 190 bhp @ 7800 rpm
Torque 138 lb-ft @ 6800 rpm
Weight 1950 lb
Power-to-weight 1 hp : 10.3 lb
0?60 mph 4.7
1/4 mile 13.4 @ 101.4 mph
Slalom 71.1 mph
Skidpad 0.98g

And the other positive is that it is a freaking LOTUS and not a Mitsubishi or Subaru.

any thoughts?

sorry, i meant to post this in off topic, not hot deals....

The Mustang Cobra beats the Vette in performance for less money.

Fanboy alert! Someone obviously has new clue what they're talking about.

i agree that the vette is more expensive than a mustang, but i still think it is the best bang for the buck, b/c it is around 50k, but it still manages to compete with almost any supercar you can for for 5-6 times the price.

and as far as the m3, the vette costs less, and blows the m3 out of the water in almost every performance category

350Z and the Corvette are two bargains.

There is a lot of nice hardware being listed here but most of them are not two place sport cars.

Agreed.

Thirded, especially after riding in one (Evo) and watching it in action yesterday

i have test driven an Evo, not a STi yet, cuz im in the market for a car with similar aspects. and i can say that the Evo is like a jet with four wheels. Its not just fast, it looks bad ass too.

I guess we can add the 350z to this discussion, but the Evo and the STi (from seeing them at the track) smoke the 350z all day long, stock vs stock.

20k used corvette 🙂
30k wrx sti(evo  id rather have a 92 galant 🙂 )
40k s2000/lotus
50k corvette
60k m3
70k 911?

The STi is also like a jet with 4 wheels. Not very refined, perhaps a little more than the Evo though, but quick as hell.

Funny, the STi/Evo is only slightly slower than the C5 but half the cost and people are saying the C5 is the best bang for the buck? I don't think so. An extra $20k will get you what? A 1/2 second and a fewe mph in the 1/4 mile? Leather interior? That's pretty much it.

umm...were also talking about total performance, not just the 1/4. the 1/4 mile of a car does not and should not, imo, determine whether a car is better than another. I would take a corvette on road atlanta or infineon raceway [sears point] or laguna seca or willow springs over an STi or Evo any day.

EVO RS makes no sense to me. They basically strip down an evo.
Why not just buy a regular Evo and strip it down yourself when you go to the track? At least when you aren't on the track you can put the creature comforts back in.

97-98 Toyota Supra Twin Turbo. Unlimited Modding Potential (1000hp on stock engine)

Exotic looks, & FasSSST

a Classic

Ford GT. Sure it's expensive, but it beats the crap out of nearly every other car on the market. I know a lot of you will disagree becuase it costs 4x an STI or evo, but for that money you get one of the fastest cars made.
