This movie looks terrible, the only way I'll watch it is if someone forces me to Clockwork Orange style. Or if some hot girl asks me to go.

Saw it earlier today. It actually wasn't all that bad as the reviews tried to make it. Although my god, I was watching the ending credits. I thought my eyes were going to shrivel up and die. They had all these colors flashing through the text .

I'd let Christina Ricci be my Trixi ;).

I promised my nephew that I would take him to see it. I have very low expectations of this film.

kinda funny how the people who actually saw the movie are not hating the movie as much as those who haven't seen it..

I just got back, and it was pretty much what I expected. I got a real kick out of my nephew's reaction though, and that made the movie for me. If you enjoyed the old cartoon, you won't hate it.

I also got a kick out of the pit pass they gave out. More films should do that.

This trailer made it worth my $12.

that looks... hmmm. I just don't know.
I loved the war scenes from Ep 2 and 3... and that is obviously taking place during the time between Ep 2 and 3, but I just don't know how I feel about it. The animation is a little strange, and the voice acting just doesn't seem that high of quality. Figures, Lucas probably had his hands all over it beyond just the story. He has great vision for story, but sucks as a director. Can't get quality performances out of any actor, beyond Harrison Ford; only actor that ever shined in any of the SW films. :p
I hope The Clone Wars is a good movie. I really hope it is. Hopefully it'll go beyond my expectations. Which is a good thing that I'll be going into it with low expectations, that way if it's any good, I'll be entertained and happy. :)

Does Lucas embed some sort of subliminal message in his Star Wars trailers that make the fanboys lose all brain function and open their wallets?

The entire trailer looked like a Saturday morning cartoon version of bits and pieces lifted from Episodes 1-3.

Lucas should have buried the film franchise with some dignity, but he seems driven to extract every dollar possible on the big screen.

I could care less that it's a cartoon. I loved the cartoon network version. I had your outlook at first, but was hooked after the third episode. If the writing is anywhere near as good as that, I'll be ecstatic!

$12 to see this crap? I had no idea that the theaters were charging $12 for a viewing of this kind of schlock. The movie tickets get more expensive as the quality of the movies goes further down the crapper ...

Man I don't know why all the hate is going on here, it looks like a fun movie. I didn't really care for the cartoon, but I don't see how that really matters much, its not, like the movie and cartoon versions are ever really comparable.

I do find it funny how people are mocking it for not having any plot development and such and being all visuals. Thats the whole POINT, some movies are made for a deep plot, some aren't. Its like saying a die hard movie is bad because there are no love scenes or something, this move is for cool special effects to entertain kids plain and simple.

I honestly don't know how much plot anyone would expect from speed racer. I mean really... do you want it to be more like Fast and the Furious? ;)

This was the first movie I walked out on in my life. Couldn't make it past the first 55 minutes.

Oh well, at least Jack in the Box was open when we left!

Yea I haven't seen this movie yet, but I already knew if it was any good, it would only be enjoyed by the general public and not the critics. They look for too many things in a movie. This just looks like a movie that is meant to entertain, what with flashy visuals and probably fun characters, but far from any real depth.

Official: Speed Racer BOMBS at the box office.

WB is actually over-optimistically estimating $20 million for the opening weekend; other studios are already disputing this, saying it will gross closer to $19 million.

The Wachowski brothers are Hollywood dead weight. Speed Racer's budget was $160 million; WB will be taking a nice sized hit on this movie unless DVD sales bail them out.
