Good point. I was actually going to mention their 32nm process, but then I remembered Llano was also 32nm, so Bulldozer was more a case where the design and process were both at fault.

They weren't even running a motherboard based on the power hungry X570 chipset. Let's wait for the official reviews and updated BIOS'es.

I actually could buy the idle power usage being somewhat higher on Zen 2, considering there's an I/O die and one or two CPU chiplets instead of just the one die that we had with Zen 1. If load power usage is also higher than Zen 1... well, it'd probably be worth it for the performance gain, but it'd be a bit more disappointing.

We need to go to a Universal Time just so that we can get a little certainty in our world. Too many arguments over time zones that it surely can't be worth the extra hour of sunlight at the "right" time in the winter.

There is a standard called Coordinated Universal Time (UTC), then there's International Atomic Time (TAI) which you subtract accumulated leap seconds from to get UTC and GPS time which is TAI - 19 seconds.

I'd prefer to see a UTC/GMT time for things that are more or less worldwide.

well it's x70 not x50 + much higher quality PCBs guaranteed, it really shouldn't be in the B450 range

3600CL17 on graph tho. That is substantially slower latency 9.4ns vs 8.75ns, so no wonder performance is not improved?

Hardware Unboxed tested 3600 CL16 vs 3200 CL14 and they were very close. The data from Techpowerup told more on the story though.

PS: most of them barely slept at all, let's cut them some slack - Gamer's Nexus did 24hrs shifts to to keep test machines going 24/7.

The performance is very good here. Even in gaming the only reason to get the highest Coffeelake parts are if you have a 144Hz monitor or better and a graphics card to match it. Anand using the GTX 1080 rather than RTX 2080 Ti seems to do a lot to reduce the gap with CFL.

3600/3600X seems like a sweet spot for gamers actually do quite well against the 9600K according to the GN review. The polish site also shows a 50W or so power use advantage which is a lot. SMT on the 3600 also makes it better for multi-threading by a noticeable amount. The higher end parts from both Intel/AMD are for content creators with applications needing very high multi-threaded performance and are quite a bit more expensive.

AMD has a winner. Because of the low overclocking headroom, the 3600 might be better than the 3600X since its only $199.

This is really believable especially a Ryzen 3 2200g idle of 70 watts. Lmao

There's something wrong with the 2200G result, but the difference between the 2K and the 3K Ryzen seems correct. TPU got 6W higher for 3700X and 8W higher for 3900X.

I'm looking to buy one of the chips that comes with the better Prism Spire RGB cooler. I guess I'll wait for 3700X or 3800X to be back in stock. Also, it seems nobody reviewed 3600X or 3800X? I would have liked to see 3600X v 3800X and 3700X v 3800X, especially with PBO on. Flaky release BIOS will have me waiting anyways, so no big deal.

Between MCE on the Intel side, and PBO on the AMD side, overclocking is pretty much dead. If you're really dedicated you can eek out a tiny bit more performance, or a tiny bit less energy burned. Now it's ePeen for the masses. Which is a good thing btw.
