Guys, since pre-orders start Monday, do you think reviews will be out then also ? I need to unlock the review thread the night before the reviews come out, since somebody will beat be to it that morning.

According to a guy on reddit Hardware Box stated that the unboxing embargo is tomorrow while reviews are released on the 7th.

Thanks, so I will unlock it the evening of the 6th. I just don't want a bunch of crap in the thread, clean review links to reputable sites.

You could always unlock your thread and merge whatever popped up into it if needed. I'd imagine most viewers would honor your thread rather than make their own. Well there is one guy, but he hasn't been around lately it looks like.

I'm really not a fan of pre-orders going up before reviews are available. I feel like if they're going to be taking money from customers, at the very least some early performance benches and partial reviews should be available. Here's to two more weeks of pre-release anxiety :beercheers:

I wholeheartedly agree. It chaps my hide when companies expect you to shell out money for a product that they haven't allowed to be reviewed yet. Both AMD and Nvidia on the GPU front have done that in the past as well.

That said, Matisse probably holds the least amount of risk in that regard from everything we've seen so far. At least of the preorders I can remember.

While I dp agree with this , the flipside is no one has to buy it (preorder it) before the reviews are out.

This is true but it is a bit silly that they're going to sell the CPU's without reviews or motherboards a week before you can get information on them. If they don't want Intel to price cut before hard launch they could just skip pre-orders all together and just hard launch. They have my business regardless I just want to know which chip is going to get close to 5GHz boost in lightly threaded tasks under water.

hmmm is passmark reliable? it shows R5 3600 ST scores 2979 while 9900kf scores 2929.🙄

https://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu.php?cpu=AMD+Ryzen+5+3600&id=3481

more of it, average score 20314 compared to 8700k 15962......

It's reliable but the R5 3600 numbers seem to be around 15%-18% too high. If those are accurate that would be amazing. They could be for overclocked CPUs. Based on the promoted IPC improvements and clockspeed increase from the 2600 I would expect the 3600 to score around 2550 single thread and 17000 multicore.

Maybe the auto overclocking is able to auto boost much higher on the 3000 series? Most likely some is playing around with overclocking there 3600 with very good results.

One week to go until the launch, it's not that much. If anyone is uncertain just wait for the benchmarks. There is no hurry, once you figure out that this lineup is for you it'll be easy to buy a chip.

For me, its easy. I am selling my 14 core 2.5 ghz Xeons, and getting 3900x's to replace them. (and of course new motherboards) I already sold my 1800x, so I could put a 2700x on that x370 motherboard, and put the 3900x on the x470 (both Taichi's)

Maybe the string sorting test but the multi thread score is also very high...

It s not too high, if you look at Haswell scores it s obvious that use of AVX/AVX2 and 256bit FMA quite skew the result in favour of HW comparatively to Zen 1, the doubbling of the exe width in Zen 2 definitly null this advantage, not counting that it has about 10% better IPC than SKL, guess that people are still not used to see AMD leading in this area.

Man, Intel is really going to get it this time around; even worse than with the Athlon 64 if you ask me. Zen 2 provides a strong foundation for AMD to build on, and barring some miraculous rabbit out of the hat trick ala Conroe, Intel is going to get creamed on for a few years. Oh well, my last AMD CPU was an Athlon 64 X2 4400+, so I'm well overdue for some AMD loving. 😎

That's a bit of a stretch, A64 vs Netburst was pretty significant. It used to be that AMD outperformed Intel while using less power under full load than Intel did at idle.

Come back to AMD though, I've had a 2600X for over 6 months now and it's been great!

Yeah, but the A64 derived architecture ie Phenom wasn't good enough to compete with Intel's subsequent Netburst architectures like Conroe, Nehalem etc. The Zen architecture seems to be much more adaptable and potentiate than the A64 ever was. Case in point, if AMD delivers and Zen 3 comes out next year and has a similar IPC boost as Zen 2, then Intel will be in a very difficult position.

Ultimately I go wherever the performance is, and ultimately, it seems to be going in AMD's direction at the moment so that's where I'll be heading 😀

Don't get me wrong, Zen is great, but the A64 - P4 gap was significant. And you mentioned the A64, not Phenom. Phenom II held it's own against Core 2, but by then, Nehalem was around.

And I always go where the performance (or performance/$) is. I upgraded from a 3570k. No fanboy here, though I generally go AMD if everything else is about equal. I like the longevity their sockets typically have. And, they're the underdog.
