All die sizes are within 5mm^2. The poster here has been right on some things in the past afaik, and to his credit was the first to saying 505mm^2 for Navi21, which other people have backed up. Even still though, take the following with a pich of salt.

Navi21 - 505mm^2

Navi22 - 340mm^2

Navi23 - 240mm^2

The 6800/6800XT definitely look like the best reference cards AMD has ever released from a materials and fit and finish perspective. Have to wait for Wednesday to see how they perform from a noise and heater perspective.

Wendel from L1Tech also kinda hinted that 6800XT is more of an RTX 3090 competition.

If so then AMD was also faithful in their own provided peformance numbers, they showed the 6800XT quite near the 3090 (or better) in some games. It would be refreshing for the GPU side to behave like the CPU side from now on (underpromise and overdeliver). Oh, there's also the 6900XT on top...

You can tell it's good, Wendell looks like a child with new toys, he can't contain the excitement lol

Man why can't it be Wednesday already...

I mean if we're talking 1080p or 1440p I could totally see it being 3090 competition.

But I highly doubt it will be at stock at 4K.

Luckily for me, I play on QHD monitor :D
I just need to sell my Radeon VII now and look for full coverage WC block, but EKWB at least sent samples to reviewers, so there is a hope I will be able to buy one, less so on the GPU side as I have almost no hope there ... :p

Don't listen to Wendel, guys, he is BSing you, people.

As we all should know, 6000 series will be as bad as everything AMD always does.

Quoted for Truth!

the RX 6000 series going to completely crash and burn just like the Ryzen 5000 series is a complete train wreck of failure.

Another stillborn AMD product. There is absolutely no need for you to wait in line at my local best buy. In fact, the Geek squard member I have in the trunk of my car says there will not be any in stock anyway. You do not even need to check Newegg or Amazon for this complete failure of a video card.

ps: if you find it in stock anywhere PRIVATE message me to prove me wrong

I have a buddy in retail, and he did some testing on the 6800XT, he claims the cooler is one of the best for AMD reference design. It runs quiet compared to their previous stuff. I tried to get him to spill on perf, but he wouldn't budge.

Honestly that's not saying a lot. AMD have had some noisy or hot cards over the years, but it's refreshing to hear that they managed to get it right for once.

I'd still probably wait for one of the AIB cards though. If these cards really can push the clocks as has been rumored then it's worth holding out for the best cooling solution possible.

As nice as the reference 6800XT looks I'm going to white-knuckle it until I can get a Nitro 6800XT from Sapphire. If that cooler is as least as good as my current Nitro Vega64 I'll be happy. It's not the best performer but its tank of a heatsink with a hefty undervolt means I rarely hear it spin up.
I'm thinking of doing the same. But maybe I'll try to get a ref anyway and just sit on it.

Just wanted to have a moment of levity here. The 10900K and 2080 Ti was THE gaming combo 1 month ago. It retailed for $1600. If AMD were being remotely truthful in their 6800 vs 2080 Ti demo, one could build a 5600X + 6800 ($880) rig that beats it at 1440p in nearly everything. That kind of price drop is insanity. Well, to be fair, it's a little bit a reflection of Intel/Nvidia price gouging. Whatever you call it, it's good for us.

I am eagerly awaiting reviews on the 6800XT, which may be my go-to card for 1440p + 2x1080p side panels and MSFS 2020. At $950 for that plus a 5600X, would be hard to turn away and go with the 10900K+3080 at $1240 for the pair.

Anyone care to speculate on the benefits of DXR 1.0 vs 1.1?

It seems all of the current RT games on the market are based on 1.0, with only Dirt 5 on DXR 1.1. Maybe Minecraft got a beta update to 1.1 too?

Cannot wait to see Minecraft with RT on Series X (RDNA 1.8 or whatever it is). This was shown to media folks months ago and while obviously it would have made an amazing "launch" update I have yet to find any rumors on when it is actually showing up.

If you have any steam on this I would really like to chase it down :)
