I have them make my burgers upside down and inside out at BK. That way I know I am being an individual.

i always make special orders at fast food places. and i always request fresh cooked meat. even at those places that say they dont cook it till you order it. i dont care if it takes longer, ive told many managers that tell me it will be a bit of a wait "i dont mind waiting for good food made correctly". good used loosely, since its still fast food.

you have serious problems if you have a problem ordering food the way you like it...it's fucking mcdonalds, not a 5 star restaurant. I bet you guys have no problem being specific at a *nice* restaurant, where someone might actually mind that you are being specific

Hey, I'm some people!
McDonalds plain hamburgers and cheeseburgers are actually pretty good if you get them 'plain' or ketchup only.

most of the time those patties used have been sitting in a steam tray for a while, so its not fresher. thats why i request fresh cooked meat. mcdonalds, carls jr, jitb and burger king will all drop new meat for ya, ive never had an issue at any of them.

I don't make special orders for myself, but when I buy my wife snackers at KFC she gets no lettuce and no sauce. If it didn't come with the sauce by default, I'd tell her to just take the lettuce of herself.

I do! I shouldn't eat meat since i am Hindu, but in an effort to be semi-Hindu, I always order sandwiches with no meat. So it would be like a Whopper w/ cheese - no meat. BK is nice because they actually have a no meat button on their registers. It also takes a dollar off the price when order that way. At other places, I just order something that is not with red meat.

Also, I watch them make my burger in an effort to make sure no foriegn things make it there. There is this on BK that knows me now and don't even ask for my order. And they make the best Veggie Whoppers EVER.

My order is unique enough and I usually go late enough that only the manager is there. So when i do end up going there once every two or three weeks, they still know.

You're in Canada, so it's only a matter of time, right?

No onion & no mayo

Easy to do and should not cause a lot of stress on the fast food chef.

I'll do it because I think it's kind of wasteful to throw away food, even if it's just pickles or whatever. People who demand extra of something need to be shot in the back of the head.

worked at BK for a year... it really doesn't add *that* much time, at least not on our end.

it just means that we grab something from the bin and apply condiments freshly instead of giving you something that'd been on the warming plates. we have to individually make whatever gets ordered eventually anyways, to keep the stuff on the warming plates at the preset stock level.

I almost always request something special, mostly because I don't want the burger that's been sitting out there for a couple hours. usually just no lettuce, but if I've got time to kill and they're not busy, I'll ask for a burger straight off the grill.

I only special order late in the day.. i.e. when business is slow.

That way I know (or at least let me think that) I'll be getting a "fresh" sandwhich... not one that was prepared 30 min ago and has been sitting under a heat lamp since.

Generally I don't special order, more so I don't hold up the line behind me, than to not screw up the system inside.

I will, however, sill go to the drive through at White Castle and order a case.... it holds up the line... so perhaps I'm somewhat of a hippocrit... lol :)

That's not so much a waste of time on their behalf, but instead a waste of time on your behalf since you spend so much time thinking about just how to go about ordering fast food.

"Well ok, what time is it? Afternoon, alright, they might not be too busy, so that means yes, the freshness should be in the 80th percentile. Hmmm, alright I'll eat there. Ok, so... I'll get a burger or maybe? no... a burger is fine. How many people are behind me now? No one just yet... 'uhu what u like?' 'yes I'll have the number two with no musta...(pauses, sees an f150 pull up behind him)...'nevermind nevermind just a #2 goGogoGgog!'"

Its fast food. Give me a break.

EDIT: regarding the poll, the last option is also considered a no, so surprisingly the No's are winning.

Kudos to you, good sir
 I love those rules.

All of my fast food orders are custom. Why would I care if it takes them a little extra time/thought to make it? I'm giving them my money, so I'm not settling for anything that I don't like just because the other 80% of america enjoys it.

Why would you NOT special order?
The food will be slightly 'fresher' and it's the way you like it.

Why would I give two flying donkey shits if it slows the process down?
When I was 16 I worked at a fast food joint, a special order didn't take more than 15 second to create. It doesn't slow the process down at any noticeable pace.

Thoes who don't special order for any reason other than they are ridiculously lazy, are just schmucks.

I think it depends on the fast food joint and the staff. I see two trends and depending on how well I know the place I'm eating, I follow these two strategies:

1. Some employees aren't very good at what they do. Ordering something special may lead to them screwing it up anyway or the order taking 4 times longer. In this case, I order what's advertised and eat it the way it was designed to be sold....I usually save time and it's not that bad.

2. If I know the Fast food place is known for fast service, that usually means they have lot of premade stuff ready to serve. This means they have time to take special requests. The result is you are virtually guaranteed to get a fresh burger. (example: I'll have a burger, add mustard w/extra onion.)
