So you get just a beef patty?

AFAIK, they did away with having completely pre-made burgers sitting there awaiting distribution years ago.

Maybe they did but for some reason special orders seem to throw McDonalds for a loop whereas Wendy's, Hardee's, or Burger King seem to handle them without flinching. Maybe an ex McD's employee can explain why they seem to have such an issue with special orders, it makes no sense to me.

Must be a YMMV, or "with only ketchup" is more easily understood.

I don't ever have to get special orders at McD's. They don't put mayo in their stuff.

For everywhere else, I order stuff without mayo.

Gives me stomach cramps - ordered Whopper from BK one time and took a bite 30 minutes up the road in nowhere land. 10 minutes later, puking all over the side of the road.

And the receipt stated "No Pickles".

The responsible BK gave me whopper vouchers for a month because of it.

Pickles I pick off and eat separately. The only customization I ever do is 'no tomatoes'

I only special order late in the day.. i.e. when business is slow.

That way I know (or at least let me think that) I'll be getting a "fresh" sandwhich... not one that was prepared 30 min ago and has been sitting under a heat lamp since.

Generally I don't special order, more so I don't hold up the line behind me, than to not screw up the system inside.

I will, however, sill go to the drive through at White Castle and order a case.... it holds up the line... so perhaps I'm somewhat of a hippocrit... lol :)

That's not so much a waste of time on their behalf, but instead a waste of time on your behalf since you spend so much time thinking about just how to go about ordering fast food.

"Well ok, what time is it? Afternoon, alright, they might not be too busy, so that means yes, the freshness should be in the 80th percentile. Hmmm, alright I'll eat there. Ok, so... I'll get a burger or maybe? no... a burger is fine. How many people are behind me now? No one just yet... 'uhu what u like?' 'yes I'll have the number two with no musta...(pauses, sees an f150 pull up behind him)...'nevermind nevermind just a #2 goGogoGgog!'"

Its fast food. Give me a break.

EDIT: regarding the poll, the last option is also considered a no, so surprisingly the No's are winning.

I don't like mayo, special sauce, ranch or any of the other wierd sauces that are put on most special burgers so I always ask for no sauce!

Plus it forces them to make it fresh for you usually.

I make special orders at fast food places all of the time. I'd say that 90% of the time my order is correct.

The amount of time that it slows down the process is negligible. I have never sat there for an extended period of time due to the fact that I didn't want fiesta salsa (pico) on a meximelt. Also, I don't think that the five seconds that it takes to make a special request is making a huge impact on the person behind me in line.

I gotta vote "no".

I'm never taking anything off, I'm always asking for extra ketchup, mayo, mustard and salt. I'm putting more on.

Isn't ordering more of something still a special order?

depends on if i'm in a hurry or not, or at the drive thru. If i'm going in and have nowhere to be, i'll get my sandwich plain. They always put WAY too much ketchup or mustard or something on the burger, so i'd rather add whatever i want myself.
