North Korea is a dictatorship where the national pastime is trying not to drop dead in the streets of starvation. North Korea had its leaders selected by Communist China and the USSR as puppets to promote world communism. When world communism was stopped North Korea no longer had any value to them (or to anyone else) and, like any nation led by puppets without puppet masters, fell into ruin.

Their books were burned, their trees were cut down, their fishing grounds overfished their natural resources mined, the farmers force to grow food, their women stolen as sex slaves and young men stolen as a work force in Japan of which many were killed when the USA dropped nuclear bombs.

Then after all of that they were invaded by the North Koreans with soviet tanks. Then when the USA helped them defeat their enemies the Chinese communists invaded them with the North Koreans a second time.

If there is any country on this worth that deserves our protection it is South Korea. They yearn to live free.
