"
The Good
* Online play is smooth and hassle-free
* Plenty of different characters, plus you can make your own
* Gameplay is accessible for newcomers and has plenty of depth for veterans
* Tower of Lost Souls mode offers plenty of single-player challenge
* Looks great.
"

Finally got around to playing it on the 360. Yoda rocks, I don't care what the reviewers say, Yoda kicks virtual ass!

Yoda is cheap and retarded. The star wars characters are the only bad thing about this game. You can't even throw Yoda.

After trying to beat the apprentice many times on arcade I'm starting to think he's a bit too powerful. He has a lot of force powers that can't be blocked, so it's very hard to defend against him. I actually don't even know how I manged to be him with Yoda as I can't get him with characters I'm actually GOOD with (supposedly).

I ended up being cheap to beat him.. every normal route I tried with Vader just didn't work. What I ended up doing was rushing him, throwing him, then doing that choke force thing.. and repeated until he died. Worked like a charm.

Yoda is annoying, but Vader is very balanced. A lot of people are saying he sucks, but he's a decent character. Just because he isn't as flashy or powerful as the other two doesn't mean he's crap.

The apprentice can seem a bit powerful at times, but he has glaring weaknesses.

Yoda on the other hand is just stupid.

Yeah, he was a pain in the ass. He block and dodges like a maniac, not to mention he pulls of some pretty painful combos. I ended up just luring him to the side and throwing him over the railing for a ring out.

I dont understand all the difficulty w/ the apprentice? I thought he went down fairly easy like all the other characters. Just grapple a lot and hit him when he's down.

I thought I was gonna get my ass handed to me online, but as of now I'm 4-0 with a staff based character. That'll end soon enough but starting my ranked career on a 4 game winning streak when I haven't owned a SC game before is surprising to me.

Do you just spam attacks?

I noticed a lot of players picking Kilik or Mi-na, and it is simply impossible to beat these characters when they just spam attacks. In a normal SC match, it would be easy to get close and null their long range advantage, but the online lag makes it impossible to block or parry efficiently.

I notice about 50% of the players I've faced use this lag tactic to their advantage with a long range, so I just take the blow and look forward to the next match.

Is this what you are doing, gorcorps?

My one win online was with a staff character then I got my butt whooped a good 6 or 7 times using other characters.

It makes me sad that I won't have my xbox for the next two weeks.

I'm not sure I know what you mean. If you mean just blindly mash buttons then no, I have some sort of grasp on his combos/attacks and try to use the ones that'd get through the way my opponent is blocking.

Kilik's a jerk. Me and 3 other friends having been playing daily, then the worst of the 4 of us picks Kilik for the first time and totally annihilated me. He was quick, didn't have to block at all, just kept in my face and using his attacks where he steps back then lunges or sidesteps and attacks the same time.

I was using Hilde, which I feel relies mostly on her vertical strikes. Such attacks are easily neutralized when Kilik stepped back or did a side-step attack. I'm the least comfortable with her though.

I know that SC2 had console specific special fighters, but I thought that SC4 was just the same version for both the PS3 and 360. I guess I was wrong.

I just found out that Yoda is exclusive to 360, and Vader is for the PS3.

IMHO, that's dumb. Why not have both on both? Star Wars fanboys would love to have a Vader vs Yoda possibility... Also, they're falsely marketing the game. On the back of the latest EGM, you've got both Vader and Yoda on the same ad, and nothing to indicate that you wont get both when you buy the game. This is the trailer I originally saw, also indicating that they're just both characters of the game.

Also, allow me to geek it up a little more, lightsabers would totally slice metal/wood weapons up right away, so I hope they explain how Sophitia would be able to clash with any of the SW characters.

Before reading this thread, I assumed that both Vader and Yoda would be available to everybody, based on the TV commercial. It's kind of like Bait and Switch, and it really sucks.

Maybe some day, they have a black space directly to the right of Yoda/Vader that's not an unlockable character AFAIK.

Yeah, her long range attack are mostly vertical, and therefore easily side stepped. This is one of her main weaknesses.

As far as I'm concerned, the game is pretty well balanced and if you are having difficulty taking out Kilik then maybe you just aren't as good as you thought. I never have trouble with him when he's CPU controlled.

CPU Kilik isn't the problem. I only face problems when fighting him online, where lag rules over all.

Yeah, online, kilik is top tier. If you actually want to win, go with Taki, Kilik, Mi-na or Raphael.

Same here, I've played through arcade 5 different times and haven't lost to him yet.

At least you can play an online game, lucky bastard.

Reminds me of when people who sucked at Tekken used to pick eddy just so they could sit there spinning around on the floor.
