Well I've played for a bit over 2 hours. I've decided yoda just isn't going to work for me. I like using quick fighters and he's pretty sluggish. I was able to use him well enough to unlock the apprentice, who may just be my fave character. He's just a badass but doesn't feel overpowered.

Yeah, the apprentice is definitely bad ass, and because hes not so recognizable, fits in much better than the other SW characters.

Well since these fighting games don't really have much story to them, "not fitting in" isn't something that phases me. I am a little jealous I don't have Darth Vader though, as he looks pretty good from the videos I've seen.

oh well im still enjoying it without online mode. i tried creating a match but then it just sits there.

i spent about 2 1/2 hours making characters... it's so cool. I can't wait to play people online with Titsurugi, my well-endowed female samurai.

Man, you guys are getting me all hot and bothered here. I don't have the game yet, but I'm expecting it to arrive sometime before Friday.

One very cool thing happened yesterday--a guy who works with my wife gave her THIS and said he heard I was a hardcore gamer. I guess he knows someone who works over an Namco. So sweeeet--what a nice guy.

I played with my buddy in California, I am in Florida, on the PSN and it was flawless. I am not sold on Vader as he is a bit slow to me but the Apprentice is really well done. Played about 18 games last night in a row. Not as many people playing over PSN though as Kev encountered, when I created a pub match it just sits there.

On PSN its best to play with people you know with the game or create a community via forums to bring people together. PSN is more internet like anyways, where as XBox Live tries to cut out the middle man ( to a great deal of success ).

Got it yesterday (360 version). Will try it tonight. I read Vader is well balanced and Yoda is just.......well.......Yoda, too small to really beat his ass, cant grab him....etc. Would be cool to play as Vader but I am sure I will like many of the characters. Loved Link in SC2, he was a really well balanced character.

$54 @ Costco B&M. I thought about it for a sec. but decided not to get it 'cause I don't really like the genre.

Believe it uses all 4 shoulder buttons and all 4 face buttons. Neither of the stick buttons do anything.

It techincally uses the four face buttons and the 4 shoulder buttons, but, 3 of the 4 shoulder buttons are just 2 or more face buttons put together (ex L1 is X+Square which performs a throw, L2 and R2 are the same thing). R1 is used for switching characters in matches where you have more then one.

So you only need 5 buttons and while still preforming the other 3 buttons functions still.

EDIT:

As for the SW characters, I don't like Vader myself but I don't like the bigger slower characters. He is pretty well balanced from what I've experienced so far, just gotta wait for your moments to attack. The Apprentice is very good, probably a bit too powerful or at least very noob friendly.

My favorite character is Talim, even though she isn't a top tier character I really enjoy or extremely fast pace and in your face attack style. Unforunatly she has too many moves that leave her back exposed to her opponent facing her. But hey, her special weapon is Orcarina's, in your face Link!

Everyone appears to be ignoring every other aspect of the game. Fuck Yoda. Right in the arse. It's not going to make OR break the game.

I gave up trying to play online. I don't know why they didn't add some code in there to automatically rematch if you don't get into a session.

That's pretty much how GH3 online was. I haven't touched it since RB came out and that's one of the main reasons. Much of the replayability goes out the window when your online component doesn't do anything.

Finally got to creating my own character. Works pretty well, but one complaint is that lots of the gear that does some cool stuff for you in story mode looks ridiculous.

I make 2 versions... 1 is the cool looking character, 1 is the armored up version.

I can't get over how shitty the online in this game is. I've gotten 1 match out of about 1 hr of trying.

Are you guys trying to create matches instead of join them? I had a lot of trouble joining them, similar to the problems you guys had - it seems like the severs are authenticating several people into the same slot, and only the chosen one gets in. But every time I've created a match, it took no more than a minute, usually about 10 seconds, before someone else joined my session.

Doesnt change the fact that the online game is still rather silly. I've now gone from a 1-10 W/L ratio to a 10-1 W/L ratio. How? Taki. The answer is that simple. Theres no finer combination of speed and range to exploit the online lag like taki. Better yet, I've created the beefiest, brawniest, least taki looking custom fighter, and gave him taki's style. No one seems to expect the astaroth looking dude to come out swinging like taki, and when all else fails, I guarantee you that mashing A and B in succession as fast as you possibly can will win you the match far often than not.

Got it today, spent half a day playing it with some friends. WICKED GAME! The gameplay and graphics are both amazing :) Unlocked all but the apprentice though. How do I do it? Played Yoda on Story mode, but that didn't unlock him. So...? :) Do I need to finish the whole tower thingie or something? Xbox360 version, obviously ;)

You need to beat ARCADE as Yoda.

After trying to beat the apprentice many times on arcade I'm starting to think he's a bit too powerful. He has a lot of force powers that can't be blocked, so it's very hard to defend against him. I actually don't even know how I manged to be him with Yoda as I can't get him with characters I'm actually GOOD with (supposedly).

Well this is the 3rd night in a row I have struggled with getting into an online game. More of the same "This session is full" bullshit whenever I do a quick match, and whenever I try to search for a custom match, or set up a match, it hangs for about 2 minutes and then disconnects me from the PS network. I am then unable to sign back into PSN unless I restart the system. I am flabbergasted by this. I have never had a problem with any other online game.

At least I will retire undefeated at 1-0. And judging by what BD says, I guess it's no big loss that I can't play online.
