Hopefully I can help with a little advice, seeing as how I used to do a lot of running, including a couple marathons.
Running is hard on your legs. Some people don't feel the same pain as others. Personally, I don't run as much as I used to because of knee pain, it runs in the family. I'm only 25 years old too... If you think after running for a month or so that the pain is just not going away, then maybe you should try cycling or something. That's what I did.
I don't want to discourage you though, running is good for you. Just be careful not to really hurt yourself.
I'd suggest avoiding the treadmill if possible. I really hate treadmills because your stride will not be the same as if you were running outdoors. This could be part of the pain problem because maybe you aren't taking as long of strides and are landing differently on your feet.
Having good shoes is SOOOO important. I personally wear Aasics because they fit my feet best. Different brands are better for different people. Don't just buy Nike because they are a brand you know. You should find a dedicated running shoe store and try on a lot of shoes. You may also need to get special prescription inserts for your feet. There are special "foot doctors" that can help you figure that out if needed.
Stretching is also important. Make sure you do it before and after you run. I have a bad habit of not stretching after a run, which isn't good, but luckily it doesn't bother me as much as some other people. You should probably spend 5 to 10 minutes stretching each time. Try googling for web sites that give tips on how to best do it, I have my own routine that may not be best.
Finally, some people will say to just take Aleve or Ibuprophen or something to relieve the pain. You should NOT even need this... Unless if you are doing something really wrong. If it hurts that bad, take a break and see a doctor.
