I'm certainly enjoying my PSP. I've over 4000 photos stored and one full movie on my memory stick. Once my 1 gig from Dell comes in I'll be able to put around 10,000 photos and 2 full movies.
And how much did you pay for the memory stick that you have now? And what quality and length are the movies that you're storing, along with those 4000 photos?
Actually, GBA had the best software library of any system possibly in history, to call it a "rehash" is g-lamer foolishness, and GBA's launch lineup was actually extremely strong in comparitive quality.
PSP has a very impressive launch lineup on paper, obviously far superior to the DS' lineup (not that DS and PSP should be considered serious competitors), however, the relative quality is below par. I am loving Wipeout Pure, and that's been a really nice surprise, but Acid and Untold Legends are pretty decrepit. Ridge Racer, Lumines and Darkstalkers are enjoyable too, though, so even though the games are too expensive, I'd say they got close to the high marks set by the GBA launch.
However, it looks like the launch lineup is about all we get until November, and the game price point is still really unacceptable. I don't doubt that the PSP will be successful, and I'm enjoying mine, but the dead pixel issues are ridiculous, the battery power sucks, the price point is too high for the prime market, the media center abilities and UMD movies are an ill-advised move by Sony, and I don't see how they will pose any significant threat to Nintendo and their affordable, powerful, backwards-compatible GB Evo, or how they will maintain long-term success.
Jealousy is not the name of the game, Sony has a niche right now and is hoping to make all their money back on the sale of the expensive games, but to call this ode to excess a threat to Nintendo and their 15 years of success is nothing but blind idiocy.
