If the animal can't kill you if you screw up, it isn't really hunting.

Yeah, I know that wild animals may also have diseases...... But, if you want to see something really gross, you have to see an animal with botfly larva....
I didn't find any really good pics right away with a google search... I'll have to look tomorrow. I need to finish typing a physics test at the moment...

Have the anti-hunting advocates even stepped foot outside of a city for more than a week or two vacation to a rural area?

I don't agree much with fox hunting. Most people don't eat them, they are not in the least bit overpopulated, and they are only hunted for sport. Squirells, deer, rabbits, duck, geese and a few other commonly hunted animals though are hunted largely for food and are not anywhere close to being underpopulated.
I am not so much against killing animals for food really, I mean it happens and will hapoen...I just don't see why people bother doing it themselves instead of going shopping....especially something like a squirrel....I mean I am not remotely tempted to kill rodents and eat them....

FYI: I grew up in near Dehra Dun, India - an area that has a sizeable population of tigers and leopards, including those who turn man-eaters. At present, I'm concerned with bears (You can spot atleast one in 3-4 weeks) ... I live in West Virginia, but I dont go around eating them :disgust:

My brother kills dozens of squirrels each summer, they are a HUGE problem. You city dwellers will likely never understand that. These aren't cute semi-tame squirrels that you feed in the park, these are a massive (and hungry) population.
They consume a significant portion of the nut crops. Farmers let my brother go hunting in their orchards, he shoots them in the head from so far away that I can't even see the damn things. His 20 gauge cuts them in half, usually he uses a .22 or a pellet gun. Even the pellet gun is more than capable of removing the back of their skull on the way out. I think he stopped counting at 50 last summer.
Coyotes are the same way, though they are a lot harder to kill. They're so rarely out in daylight that it's virtually impossible to see them & have a gun at the same time.
