If you can call pwnage quoting the same person's quote for 8 pages.

Hehe, we do that A LOT around here. 🙂

Agreed. Same for what's happening here.

Actually, City contracts can be very beneficial. The City of Seattle on average pays 75/hour per contracted programmer.

You don't have to bid for the work?! I'm moving to Seattle, if that's case.

We walked in and noticed their system that they were currently developing was using technology dating to 1995. Classic City ineptness. "Rajaan" The developer, could never get his database to work right, and kept telling them that the features they wanted were impossible to create.

We were like "here, try this" and they were like "Contract".

Not sure if that counts as a bid.

I say we settle this like men... playing CS:S!
Your clan vs. Team ATOT!
And we'll draft that little punk you banned so he can get his revenge on the 'battlefield'.

I dont even understand what we're arguing anymore. Didn't we decide the ownage really wasn't that bad? What's funnier is that the OP had to cry to his old forums and call for reinforcements

I thought the kid got owned horribly, just not braggable.

Yeah same as, but i dont think its that much of an OWNAGE .. he was just a childish fu<k

"We" is who, the bunch of you kids?

Where did you walk into that you were allowed access as an outsider but could view "their system" that was still in development?

What DB features circa 1995 were impossible to do that are now possible?

Who was the city representative that was on-hand near the systems that could award you a contract just like that?

Since when can any government agency award $300,000 to a bunch of unknown youngsters without going through a vetting process and soliciting bids?

I think we've learning from this thread that being a troll is lame, but bragging about "pwning" one is too.

This thread could go on forever with everyone bitching, then it becomes just another one in the mess of wasted bandwidth.

I'm just easily amused when kids make up fairy tales about wondrous dot com successes when in reality the most they've probably got done is buying a template, web hosting and domain.

In fact, the startup I occasionally work for had 3 or 4 clients before we could throw up a website at all - that much could be believable - but we also didn't make ridiculous pronouncements about $300,000 a quarter and being able to walk in to a government-run area that contains computers that probably store personal (and therefore highly guarded) data. Not to mention a total lack of knowledge on how some contracts must be advertised.

An Introduction To Consultant Contracting
Consultant contracts valued at $38,000 or more (except for consultants selected through the City-wide Consultant Roster Program - see below) are advertised for a minimum of two days in the City's official newspaper, currently the Seattle Daily Journal of Commerce. For these contracts the City:

- May request either a statement of qualifications or a proposal, or both, depending on the nature of the work.

- Selects consultants based on established selection criteria through the use of a consultant evaluation committee.
I'm also curious to know where "pwnzord" appears on the Report of Approved Consultants, Address, Phone Number?

That's where I was going....I'm moving to freakin' Seattle. You can get no-bid contracts and you don't even have to be the mayor's relative?!

Wow I can't decide who is more lame, the kid that got what he deserved (mostly for being an idiot with his identity), or the huge e-penis wielding flaming keyboard warriors of ATOT. Don't worry wutdafuk, this is normal operation of ATOT. Nothing of any value to see here, move along.

You know i actually believed you up until this post. really i did.

I started a business at ~15 and it grew pretty large. of course it helped that my father and grandfather owned a couple car lots. So i started by building computers, networks etc for them and it spread.

Eventually i got into outsourcing help. I got lucky and had some really smart people working for me (wich is why the business was a success!).

Sadly i had to sale it for health reasons a few years ago. but i made enought that at 30 i was able to retire. Granted on a severe budget.

So yes i figured what you were saying is possible.

Until this post. what you claim is NOT possible. As yllus stated there is NO WAY in heck that you were allowed in and to play with the system. NONE.

They sure didnt give you a contract without it going through proper channels. Not a 300k contract anyway.
