That isn't pwnage, but the guy has no manners.

He doesn't have manners? You don't have much manners either talking on your phone in line.

Whats wrong with talking on the cell phone in line. Is everyone supposed to shuffle forward and stare at their feet?

Exactly, how is it different than reading a magazine or newspaper in line?

I'm not going to call someone while I'm in line, but if I'm on the phone as I walk into a store, I'll continue my conversation until I have to interact with the person I need to talk to. But making the person who you need to talk to feel like they are interrupting you and your conversation, thats rude.

Seriously what is wrong with these restaurants and shit getting pissed at customers being on cell phones? If I remember correctly the person behind the counter is there to SERVE the customer. Just because he's on the phone doesn't make him a dick. What if the person that was next didn't know what sandwich they wanted? Would that be rude because the poor deli employee would have to wait for a decision to make a sandwich? Only ownage I see here is the deli losing a customer due to their employees being self-righteous jackasses.

you don't like the policy the store (private property) has set, don't eat there.
simple as that. if your product is good enough, people will comply to their policy.

furthermore if you don't know what you want and you've spent the entire time in line on the phone talking instead of making up your mind, when there's a line behind you and all the employee wants to do is SERVE the other customers, then yes, you are a DICK.

Unless you read out loud, it is quite different. I don't need to hear about the fucking boil you had lanced on your ass while I'm waiting to order food.

Now hold on a second here buddy, in the OPs case we're not talking about other people in line here, we're talking about interaction with the person working in the store.

Frankly, me being on the cell phone, is just as bad as me having to listen to some stupid woman and her annoying brat child while buying my groceries at the store, give a penny take a penny, because I'm sure there is something annoying you do in line too.

What happened in the OPs post actually interfered with the operation of the store, talking on the cell phone while in line, doesn't.

From the post you quoted it was talking about being in line, not ordering. They are different, but are both annoying, just in different ways.

I'm actually pretty damn quiet in line, because I'm usually impatient and just like to get things over as quickly as possible, and I never talk on my phone in line.

Oh and I'm not your buddy guy!

Makes everything move quicker and you won't be the asshole that everyone complains about.

The guy doesn't seem to notice. The deli worker says "next please" two more times before the customer realized that he was up. When he approached, the worker informs him that they don't take orders while on cell-phones. So the customer makes some smartass remark and then moves out of the way and lets someone else order.

After a couple minutes he hangs up and the guy comes back to take his order. The customer says "i'm going to wait for someone else to take my order". (there are usually like 4 or 5 people making subs at a time) So the next person comes and informs him that he'll need to move to the back of the line.

The guy gets pissed and leaves the store.

Were you at the Frasier Street Deli? (their soup is amazing)

Humm, I don't have a problem with anyone talking on their cells while wait in line <as long as they don't scream or use the phone as walkie talkie>.

The problem with that guy was this..---->>>"After a couple minutes he hangs up and the guy comes back to take his order. The customer says "i'm going to wait for someone else to take my order""

He also did this.... --->>> "When his turn comes up, one of the people behind the counter says "next please". The guy doesn't seem to notice. The deli worker says "next please" two more times before the customer realized that he was up"... he hold up the line while it was extremely busy <lunch time rush>.

I believe you need to know exactly what you want and ready to order, also get your money and ready to pay, don't stumble around and get that last penny from your purse or pocket.

Ah. I figured it had to be one of the McL's, Fraiser St, or one of the JJ's. McL's on Allen is a personal favorite as I live on Allen and Foster. :p Good stuff.

Only ownage I see here is the deli losing a customer due to their employees being self-righteous jackasses.

I worked at an incredibly busy pizza/sub shop during lunches quite a few years ago (plus during the summers just a couple years ago.) We had a LOT of customers who came to us simply because they were virtually guaranteed to be in and out the door with a good lunch in very little time. We even adjusted our prices to make change simpler; the most common lunches were $3.50, $4, or $5 (including tax.) Tons of customers were regulars and didn't even have to open their mouths; simply when it was their turn to be waited on, their food was handed to them in exchange for the money. For many others, the entire change was 4 words. Them: "daily, pepsi" us: "4 dollars", and in less than 10 seconds, their $4 was in the register, and they were given their 4 slices of pizza and large drink. Anyone having to pull money out of a wallet or purse would come to realize that it was that step that was actually holding up the process. Sort of like the credit card commercial where a customer pulls out cash and the whole process comes to a grinding halt; after 2 or 3 times, customers realized, "have the money ready."

And customer upon customer were waited on with incredible efficiency. I can assure you that if someone made it to the counter and was still on their cell phone, they'd be ignored. "Getcha when you're ready. next?" And, if someone arrived at the counter and said, "hmmmm, a sub sounds good. What kinds do you have?" They'd be greeted by a finger pointing at a menu and "I'll getcha when you're ready to order. Next?" The employees were there not to serve rude or indecisive people. They were there to serve as many people as possible in as little time as possible. That's why all the customers in line behind them were there. The subs down the street were arguably a little better; more expensive though. But, if you had a 30 minute lunch break, that place wasn't even a consideration; you'd get there, order, and have to leave before your food was even ready.

The sandwiches at FSD are considerably better than McL's, not saying Mcl's isn't pretty tastey and decently priced. JJ's aren't quite what they used to be (over the last four years).

I also can't say enough about FSD's backed potato soup. It is heavenly. Panera's got nothing on it.

BTW... when are we going to have a PSU meetup??
