Nothing about my story sounds "redneck." You just want to start shit to take up for a menace on the streets that had NO business being there.

Nice trolling though.

I understand where your coming from on this one... This was a case of really smashing your thumb with a hammer so the colorful metaphor can be overlooked just a bit and thank you for the consideration at the end of your post...

As for anyone else there is NO need for the profanity or just making a custom post just to use profanity... We have a wide range of people that visit the garage so take a little care with your choice of words please and yes I`m asking... Most I have PM`d and asked have done quite well and thank them...

As for the case of the wife or you JB yelling at the old man its easy to get caught up in the moment with emotions running pretty high as would be the case for anyone in the same situation unless they are just looking for an insurance job...?D: Some states like Texas now have laws where people over a certain age must take their written drivers test every 2 years along with an eye exam... While the laws are still not where they should be they are changing all the time, just with this situation it needs to and soon... BTW I do not see any "Redneck" in what you or your wife did... But one thing you did not consider is he (the 93 year old man) might have pulled a gun and shot either of you...? Road rage or fear of life in Texas means you can pull a gun and shoot if you feel the person is at that point of threatening your life (old people get that way quite easy)... Just something to consider...?

Shame about your wife's car but atleast no one was hurt that is much more important than a car...

And you are a big tough guy talking shit on the internet. What saved him was that he WAS 90 yrs old. I had ONE interaction with him, and then left him alone. If he was a regular guy, I would have kept on yelling at him hoping to piss him off.

But I like how you come in here trolling, trying start some shit.

Ignore the trolls.

You're right, I am glad about that, but like I said, what REALLY pisses me off is that he should not be on the road in the first place. Yes I was lucky, and quite honestly, this incident may have saved another family's life. He now cannot get back on the road and drive the wrong way on a highway. It's like taking a drunk driver off the road (permanently), but I think this is worse. At least a dunk driver sobers up at some point.

I do have an update though. I called his insurance company and he apparently lives in a different city! Now THAT is scary.

Calm down dude It's a car. You're a big tough guy yelling at some 90yo guy.

This is exactly right.

So your car got dented, it's just a fucking car, get it fixed and move on. You and your wife walked away, that's the only thing that matters.
Yelling at an old man is the real crime here, maybe he shouldn't have been driving, but maybe he doesn't know that. Intimidating an elderly man is just plain pathetic.

I'd like to see the look of your face if someone crashes into your house and leaves bad damage because he's incompetent and shouldn't be on the road. Who cares if he yelled at the stupid old man? He shouldn't be driving, anyway, and it was completely his fault. He was so clueless that he probably didn't even notice the OP yelling, and according to him he only did it once and then left.

When you buy something nice and expensive or that you simply care for you sure as hell want to keep it as mint as possible. The problem is that even if the car is repaired it won't be the same again. Reselling it will be a problem, not to mention since it uses a unibody frame some things won't match up again.

I don't blame the OP for freaking out. If it was my car, I can't say I wouldn't have probably done the same. A lot of seniors don't know when to quit, even when they become a danger. Becomes some sort of demented pride thing. Sure, you flew Spitfires in the war, but that was when you were 19 and still had hair trigger reaction times. Hopefully this is a wake up call for this old man, before he hurts someone.

In Ontario, all drivers over age 80 must be re-tested biennially. My grandma just took her test. Mind you she just uses the car to go locally. Rarely ventures a couple kilometres from home. I think it's insane that other jurisdictions don't do that. You can't honestly say you're impaired after a couple of beers, yet you're ok to drive with the reduced reaction time advanced seniors have.

We already do graduated licenses. Maybe older seniors should have limits placed on them. Say limiting driving times and driving radius. Would still allow them to drive to the store and the doctor, but keep them off busy main roads and highways.

Sorry but I laughed seeing the bumper on the ground.
Don't mind all the people on their high horses. I'd be super pissed too.

I think its the same here as well. I have been seeing a lot of these lately

I think its because more and more seniors are loosing their licences. The people I know who have these things also seem to like them a lot. They can actually move pretty fast.

Sorry you car got damaged, but your rant against the old man just seems weak and a bit juvenile. And I disagree with the assumption that a car once wrecked is never the same. In cases where there is no frame damage which looks the case here, a good shop can repair it to brand new condition. These days they just replace the damaged components for the most part the days of staightening sheet metal and bondo are gone. Just be thankful the old man had insurance, some of the elderly keep driving after losing their insurance

And I agree we need tougher testing for seniors but the fact remains that statistically young drivers 16-20 are the worst drivers and are involved in far more accidents and cause more injury and damage than seniors.

I too had a brand new car less than a year old wrecked and much worse than in your case, but for me it was a newly licensed 17yo that caused the accident. I felt bad for the kid he was scared out of his mind and I knew he was looking at a suspended liscense and impossibly expensive insurance for a few years.

It doesn't change the fact that it's still just a car. Yes it's a bummer that it got damaged, yes I was upset when someone caved in the side of my new truck in a parking lot, but shit happens. Freaking out won't change anything, it won't help anything, all it does is add grief to an already bad situation.

Right, except for the fact all the OP did was yell at the clueless old man once and then left. If your new car gets crashed by someone who shouldn't be on the road you're well justified in freaking out for five minutes.

Also, it seems as if you completely ignored the fact that resale value of the car goes down because the accident is now on record and the fact that parts of the frame will never match up after repair because of the unibody.

No it's not just a car, IT'S MY CAR! If you don't care about your property, fine. I do! I cut the old man some slack because he was 90+. If it was anyone else I would have continued to yell at them.

I have a feeling the people that say, "it's just a car" own junk and really don't care about their own stuff to begin with. It's no surprise they have this "it's just a car" attitude. It's not just a car, IT IS MY CAR! And I just have one rule when it comes to ANY of my stuff, don't F with it! I worked hard for it and take care of what I have. And I'll be God damned if someone just destroys it in one fell swoop and just walks away from it.

And for people siding with the old man, you should be thanking me for taking him off the road. Maybe when he comes down the wrong side of the road and plows into a family and kills them, I can walk in and say, "hey, take it easy on the sweet old man. He's old and didn't know what he was doing."

There are two people to blame here, the old man, AND the family members that KNEW his condition yet let him continue to drive. Either way, the guy is off the streets now so I have SOME satisfaction there.

why? What is continuing to yell at someone going to solve? It just makes you look childish, foolish, and like a huge asshole. Shit happens and insurance will deal with it. It sucks your car got hit but at least no one was hurt.

Funny, those are exactly the qualities most people have. That's probably why he said that's how most people would act.

Dude that sucks soo bad, that car looked nice and clean too. THe bumper isn't a big deal, but the quarter and door looks like it will need a good body man to get it right.

hope it all works out for you.

What don't you get about destruction of my property? If the insurance company would say, "hey, we'll buy you a brand new car to replace your brand new car," I probably wouldn't be so upset. But that's not how it works. I have to have it repaired which will most likely NOT be in the condition before the accident. I also now have an accident on my record (I'm not at fault, but it is still on the record), and I now have to go through the aggravation of dealing with my insurance company. Oh, did I mention his insurance company will not move forward on the claim until they can contact their policy holder? Yes, they are going to have to wait until a freakin' 93 year old man returns their call about an accident he most likely doesn't even know he was in. In the meantime, my car just sits there, undrivable. So I now have to work with MY OWN insurance company to get my car fixed and have to pay out a deductible until HIS insurance company responds and reimburses me my money. Now you tell me why I shouldn't be pissed.

You can call it childish all you want. If you run into my car while you're texting or some other stupid crap, be prepared for me to go off. If you want to be the tough guy and escalate the matter, I welcome it. I'd at least get my frustrations out. Now if you are a 90 year old man, you'll get a pass.

Thanks man. I'm going to take it to the dealer and I will make it VERY clear that it needs to be in the EXACT condition of a new 2012. If it is anything less, they better go back and redo it.

I'd have freaked out and probably yelled at whomever hit me just the same. Having said that...

Blame the guy's family and/or his doctor. Family members are afraid of taking the "last bit of pride" (bullshit) from their parents. Doctors that try to take it away probably get yelled at or attacked, then lose their customer, so they just don't bother.

He's 93, he's senile and totally out of it. He didn't choose to be old and for his brain to go to mush unlike a drunk; a drunk or texter would have T-boned you at 50mph, not 1mph.
