Some 180 year old man ran into my car!!!!! ***Updated with pics.***

F**king unbelievable!!!! I still can't believe this happened! I was in the middle of making a left turn onto a street (<10MPH) when this OLDER THAN DIRT old man that is coming out of the street I was turning into starts to SLOWLY (~1MPH) move forward (At this point I'm pretty much at a T with the other car). I lay on the horn KNOWING he just didn't see me and would immediately hit the brakes (I was probably doing 1MPH at this point). Well to my horror, he keeps moving toward my car like I wasn't even there. He crushes the rear quarter panel, pauses for a second (I'm in COMPLETE shock now), AND THEN CONTINUES TO DRIVE THROUGH MY CAR!!!!! He takes out my rear quarter panel and goes all the way down the side of my car and rips the bumper pretty much completely off! I just couldn't believe this was happening.

Anyway, as soon as it was over, my wife jumps out of the car (it was her car I was driving) and starts yelling at the guy. I make a U turn and park right in front of where he is parked, jumped out of my car and yelled, "WTF are you doing?!!!" Now he is still in his car, windows rolled up and looks like he doesn't even know what happened. The guy is f**king completely out of it. His condition? F**king severe "oldness!!!" Come to find out, the guy is 93 years old! Now how this f**ker still has a license I HAVE NO IDEA!!! Anyway, several people stopped (apparently I was so pissed, they thought I was going to kill the guy), I got several witnesses, a police report and asked the cop to have a mental evaluation form filled out on this guy. I wanted this guys license revoked, so he will now have to be evaluated by a doctor before he can get back of the street. I don't see him passing ANY of the tests so no more driving for this sh*t.

Now, to be clear, I wasn't in the guys face. I only interacted with this guy one time (one way interaction), which was right after the accident. After I walked up to his car and yelled at him through his window, I just walked back to my car and waited for the cops to show up. I realized the guy was COMPLETELY out of it, and talking (yelling at him) wouldn't make the situation any better. What I was REALLY pissed at, was the fact that this guy had a f**king license. His reflexes were shot, and I would have had a better chance with a person texting or even someone that was drunk. You hear all about how texting drivers are a danger to people on the road. You hear about drunk drivers being a danger. What about these old f**kers?!!! These are the people that drive down the wrong way on an interstate! Can we get a bill signed to have 80+ year olds required to take a driving exam EVERY YEAR?!! These people should NOT be on the road. Fortunately neither me nor my wife were hurt, but he could have EASILY been driving the wrong way on a highway and potentially killed someone.


So in summary, old guy in a f**king tank (Cadillac DeVille) crushes my not even year old 2011 Mustang GT. 😡 F**king a**hole!! Fortunately he had insurance and I have an appointment today to get the car looked at.

You're going to want to thank the AARP for lobbying against enhanced licensing requirements for the elderly. I agree that they're a menace.
 
Might as well lay some of the blame on his family as well, for not being tough enough with their love to take grandpa's license away from him.

My grandmother (RIP) got into two fender benders, in her assisted living parking lot, before my dad and uncle finally told her that it was time to sell the car and give up the license. She lived in an area where public transit was easy to use, and they promised that someone would drive her to any appointments she had (which might have been a mistake, since she was also a hypochondriac! 🙄 ), so she turned in the license for a state ID card at the age of ~85. Too often, though, families don't want to hurt their elders by pushing to do that. 🙁

Sorry, folks, but after the age of 75, you should be getting tested every couple years, to ensure that your skills haven't eroded to the point of making you a danger on the road.
 
Agreed - ancient people should have extra requirements to drive.

A couple weeks ago, I saw an ancient lady in a BMW.
1) A lot of BMW drivers are jerks.
2) She was older than dirt.
3) Woman driver.

Trifecta of fail.

So she took a left out of a gas station and stopped at the stop light. When the light turned green, she took a right. Then she immediately got pulled over.

Oh I left out a some parts of the story... There was a median in the road where she originally turned left. She hit the median (too blind to see it?) and then took a sharper left to roll her car off of it. This is when she pulled up to the stop light - FACING AGAINST TRAFFIC ON THE WRONG SIDE OF THE ROAD! Then she took a right when it turned green... ACROSS THE MEDIAN AND ALMOST HITTING 3 OTHER CARS THAT WERE ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE ROAD! One of those cars was a cop. Flashing lights were in hot pursuit of this old fart who kept driving at 1 mph and took forever to pull over.

I was astonished. This is way worse than a drunk and high driver that's texting his dealer at night in the rain with his lights off while driving stick. Heck, you could give a middle schooler the keys to a car and they could do better than that.

I agree, I think after 65 it should be required by law to have a test every year to determine if you are still capable of handling a vehicle.

I'm so pissed because I baby the car. I park where NO ONE else parks, way in the back of the parking lot so I don't get dinged. The car was absolutely perfect before yesterday. And then this shit happens. 😡
 
That sucks man. We did take away driving for my grandpa when he got too shaky.
My sister wanted to restrict my mom, which was funny as hell to us: My sister is a completely disinterested and somewhat scary driver. My mom could drive little filigreed circles around her till the day she quit driving. The rest of us got her to back off that idea without offending her 😛

nothing worse then having a nice new car and then some tard comes along and bashes it, ruining it for life with an accident on the records.

happened to me about 2 years after I bought a new car, some dumb woman sideswiped my car and had to get the door, fender, mirror etc replaced. Never looked @ it the same.

Now its gone though...but every caller when I sold my car was like "well it has an accident so..."

Almost happened to me in a bank parking lot the other day, some old crippled lady drove straight out the drive thru lane like there isnt any other car/person/object in existence and didn't even look, even when i laid on the horn as she almost T-boned me, luckily I escaped without an accident. Can't even enjoy driving half the time because you have to drive so defensively. God knows when you are about to get hit for no reason because MOST people out there don't even know what the fuck they are doing behind the wheel, or aren't paying attention.

sorry to hear. Unfortunately too, the car will never be the same. I have never seen a car or had a car that was "worked" on that you couldn't tell. The silver paint will never match right, there will probably be very light scratches beneath the paint that some hack doesn't prep the filler properly, and I bet that quarter panel wont follow the door line flush either. On top of all the stuff you can see... the VIN will be tarnished reflecting in bad resale.

I wish in cases like this where there is major (crused quarter panel is major as it is part of the frame on a unibody) damage, insurance companies would bite the bullet and pay for a NEW car, since that is what it was and should be replaced with. If it was just the bumper, a door or even a front fender that could be replaced entirely and not just bondo'ed up with a putty knife to look good to casual observers or owners that don't actualy take pride in maintaing their cars, I could live with that.

Yep, that's what I'm afraid of. The State Fair is coming up soon, so I'll see if they show off the new 2013 Mustang. If it looks better, I may just trade it in for a new 2013 GT when it comes out. I LOVED my car and planned to keep it a loooong time, but cars are never the same after a wreck. 🙁

Diagram this please, it sounds like you turned left into his path. Was this at a 4 way stop? At least he wasn't driving the mandatory Winnebago they give every 70yr+ driver.

My wife jumped outs and soons as I get her stopped and put on my straw hat I wents to hootin and hollerin and I was fittin to open a can of whoop ass on that ole man.
