The seismic waves shook the earth...for hours. The "Big Bang" theory was instantaneously born...those poor scientists; they never had a chance...the overpowering sonic boom....poor guys. :Q

Ah, she was so much lighter when we were dating...still hefty by AT standards...and yes, *hangs head* I did hit it....I hit it so well that she followed me around and eventually became my own hell on earth. Satan himself has sent me a condolence card....

I was wondering if you got that. You never write back.

:p Thanks for the card...I'd gladly offer my eternal soul in exchange for the last eight years of my life back, please. I made a mistake and i was adult enought ot stick around and pay for it. A BAD oversight on my part...critics be damned.

Because they are stupid and refuse to accept the facts. Though I am not so sure about there being a big bang, guess its one of those "you had to be there" things.

What you have are some facts that indicate that the Big Bang is a plausable explanation. I would not be absolutely sure about it though. There is significant evidence that the universe had a beginning, as opposed to the old Steady State theory and the like, however the mechanism and origin is far from certain. Remember, that everything you know is wrong. :D

BTW, I am not sure what you mean by "light density" Is it related to Obler's Paradox?

yeah basically it states that the universe has boundaries and thats why the sky is not full of starts (ie everythign is yellow and bright as sun). If the universe would be infinite, the sky would be covered in bright yellowness, because the area and distance of all the stars.

Well put it this way, how the hell does something just bang itself into earth or anything?

I mean wtf was there before that? You can't just say bang and then everything will start coming together.

I mean yeah I'm a Christian, so what, bite me.

Ah, so your experience must be universal. Since you never met one, they must not exist.

This is an equisitely ironic statement considering your first reply to this thread. I love it.

Honestly, I don't know.

Don't ask me, and I don't really care.

But the thought that there was nothing and then we magically happend is kinda off to me.

Hey it's what I believe, not you, so I'm fine with it. Don't start to hate.

Its called science. Ever heard of it? I believe in God too, but 7 God days could be billions of our years.

Fact is, given there is a christian God, his existence isn't any more justifiable than a 'big bang' type theory. There is no sufficient explanation for the beginning of everything.
In all likelihood, its just not within our realm of understanding; the real power to drive is the question, and the pursuit of truth (a pursuit faith and science share), not the answer.

While you made the statement in reference to ViperGTS implying that people who don't believe in plate tectonics don't exist because he has never met one, it could be turned around....You've never met a god, so gods do not exist.

It's an interesting thing to ponder.

You gotta believe in SOMETHING, and for me it's easier to wrap my mind around the big bang or evolution than it is.... the OTHER "explanation".

Except that his post made no mention regarding god one way or the other, save his sig, which is a quote.

Not quite. I guess if you're not educated in critical thinking you can't tell the difference, so i'll try to explain them to you.

What he did was called the fallacy of Hasty Generalization. Just because he doesn't know people who do not believe in tectonic plates, does not mean everybody believes in tectonic plates. What you're attributing to me is entirely incorrect, and is a fallacy yourself... it is the fallacy of Burden of Proof. Just because i haven't seen it, doesn't mean it has to exist. I've NEVER used that argument.

Or, it will destroy their faith. They need a crutch in life, and religion is it.

Earthquakes are caused by volcanoes too :).

Funny, I don't recall placing the burden of proof on anyone, just presenting food for thought.

Not even modern science can explain where the big bang came from, or what caused it. For it to occur, somehow the material came into existence, and something caused it to explode correct? If somehow you figured this out, many scientists all over the world would be very interested and I think you may be in the running for the Nobel Prize ;)
