yes i do know how pm's work. teh fact he closed his browser said that he didnt' want to deal with it. maybe i was a bit rash in thinking that his actions said that perhaps he shipped it out broken to me and thats why he logged off anandtech, but regardless. the scanner doesn't work. it makes noises like its trying too, and thats it.
i should give a positive for receiving a broken scanner and a seller that was unresponsive to the problem?

You should have waited for him to at least try to make good on the trade. If I sold something that turned up to be broken, I'm going to do whatever it takes to satisfy the buyer. You should have given him more time, rather than less than an hour.
Buyer jumped the gun when he didn't get an immediate response.

Before you two finish fighting and have make-up sex, might I suggest that you examine the scanner and make sure that you unlocked the "lock" that is used to secure the head during shipment?
(edit: I don't know this particular model, so someone correct me if this feature is no longer common on scanners)

yes, i have 86 heat or so and have way more transcations than that here at AT Forums. you PO enough established traders, you are going to find it difficult to trade here.

i left accurate heat. i didn't do anything wrong. if its going to make it difficult to trade here because of that, well i'm better off for that then. i don't need the stress from assholes like yourself.
for everyone that thinks i left bad heat, ask the one person in my heat about the video card i bought from him. it worked fine, i left him good heat, and then the video card stopped working. no i didn't go back and leave him negative heat, we've exchanged responses back about the card for the last week or so.
i am patient and most of the people here so say i am wrong for the neutral heat are out of their minds. whatever

The next time you want to buy something why not just go to the store ? You are arrogant, impatient and totally delusional if you think an individual is going to sit there all day in breathless anticipation of your next pm. The messaging system here is not like AIM. I also find it quite amusing that you're so frosted over his not sitting here waiting for your pm's while you totally gloss over the fact that he had to pm you to get feedback about the trade to begin with, how is it that you can go away and then not test this scanner for several days and that's ok but his delay is not ?

We'll start off w/ something light. hehyes it would be. i read the damn instructions and knew what the unlock/lock button was for before i read it. this isnt' the first scanner i've had. the last one i had i sold to my roomate years ago for $30 bucks cause i didn't really use it and needed the money.
btw canon had me switch the button from lock to unlock several times to see if that would make it work. when it didn't, they said they would ship me out a new one tmw, and i didn't have to ship the old one back until the new one got here, with a prepaid shipping label. now thats' service.

I think you're way out of line particularly considering the date the scanner arrived at your door and the fact that you dallied until the 2nd to test it and even then the seller had to pm you asking if everything was ok. There is a breakdown in both expectations and in communication here.
The fact that he had to pm'd you to ask if things were ok tells me that he's concerned about his trades and was attempting to do right. I side with him.
Btw, if you dislike delays in response time never,ever buy anything online from Dell, HP or a host of other big tech companies, you'll wait in endless phone ques after wading thru loops of automated phone menu's.
The end result here is that you'll end up with a NEW scanner shipped to you by the maker for probably a helluva lot less than you would have gotten it in a store and will incur ZERO extra shipping charges in sending back the old one.Had you been a bit more patient I'm betting the seller would have handled calling Cannon for you to boot !
Personally I'd be thrilled with such an outcome !

)if i bought them from dell hp compaq, voodoo, etc etc. ask the guy i bought my video card from on my heatware, and teh guy i got the ram from in my heatware. i got the ram from the guy, and it didnt' work, i sent a few pm's, i figured out what the problem was (mem timings were manually set, so i had to clear the cmos to reset them from my old ram). i didn't jump the gun on that, the video card thing is still unresolved (card worked fine then died) but i havent' went back and left him a negative heat.
and i definitely didn't jump the gun on this.
