IMO tfinch2 is jumping the gun just like quasarsky did. He doesn't need the approval of ATOT to have the neutral heat removed. He just needs to talk with Heat23 and get it figured out.

No disrespect, but heat can take a VERY long time getting back to people and it sounds like tfinch2 wanted to make sure he was in the right before going along those roads if he already hasnt.
Also, sometimes when people have posted issues like this, the party in the wrong has been persuaded to fix the problem themselves.
If most of ATOT told me that the heat i left wasnt right, i would change it, wouldnt you?

I have not left negative heat, and I will talk to Heat23 before I do leave heat. But if you people think this should be resolved in private and wiped squeaky clean with nobody knowing, wait until it happens to you and I hope it doesn't.

he shipped the scanner in its orignal retail box. no extra packaging, he stuck the shipping label on teh outside of the scanner retail box!!! i didn't know u could ship stuff like that. yeah there was styrofoam inside the scanner box and what not, but would have packed it better! put the box the scanner came inside anotehr box. with peanuts. there's a reason sites like newegg ship retail stuff inside a box even when the retail has its own padding! if the scanner is broken thats probably why. if u want to see a photo of the box and u don't believe me thats fine. i'll send it.

How is he supposed to privately resolve this when the other party is jumping the gun and leaving false heat?

I agree that he should have first emailed heat, secondly, I probably would have posted as well to make sure i wasnt in the wrong and to help persuade the other party to fix the problem.

No...you get your neutral heat removed but I would leave neutral heat for the other guy. He has not handled himself very well at all and that should be noted.

Patience and a cool head can often resolve problems before they are ever started.

Sometimes he does take awhile to get ahold of but he doesn't get paid and so patience is needed. Obviously patience was lacking here with both parties invovlved.

As per your 2nd statement, I know the rules of heat and I know whatever heat I give is the right one. If I were to give anything but positive feedback, I would think about it beforehand and determine if I was doing the right thing. I can also use the aid of some of my FS/FT friends with a loooong history of trading for advice.

Once I had given heat, it would pretty much stick unless Heat23 decided otherwise.

Heaven forbid real life interferes with AT. I guess taking my GF to Walmart to get supplies for a project because she can't drive because of a broken arm is totally abandoning my traders. I better take the day off of work tomorrow because a group of my Ebay auctions are ending...

How do you think Canon ships scanners to retailers? It had all the original styrofoam to hold the scanner in place. I always keep retail boxes to all my electronics, and ship them in the retail boxes. You're the first to complain about it.

Second...while personally I would have sent it with more packing material...I get LCD screens packed and shipped that exact same way to my store ALL the time...no problems. The styrofoam suspends the scanner in air so that side impacts will not affect it, and it is cushioned on the ends. Do you think Canon sends them inside another box when they ship them? No. They put about 100 or so of them on a big pallet and toss them in a truck.

Once I had given heat, it would pretty much stick unless Heat23 decided otherwise.

In this instance, i would think that the actions by quasarsky warrant a neutral under the assumption that finch did was was right as far as the broken scanner.

Finch IS seeking advice from peers. If quasarsky did nothing wrong, how is finch posting this bad?

i didn't test it until u sent the pm. i just got back from my trip i took to see my friend in northern va, and my mind is kinda on my car cause i think my lil brother didn't change my transmission fluid right and its probably ruined.

i was going to leave u a positive but i could tell you weren't going to be helpful about it when u signed off really fast, which showed me you weren't going to be responsive to my problem. thats when i called canon and wrote up my neutral.


Question: item is broken. why should i have to wait a whole day to get a response back? its not like he shipped first and is waiting on my payment. why should he have to be responsive. ? he's got the money, and by the way!

he shipped the scanner in its orignal retail box. no extra packaging, he stuck the shipping label on teh outside of the scanner retail box!!! i didn't know u could ship stuff like that. yeah there was styrofoam inside the scanner box and what not, but would have packed it better! put the box the scanner came inside anotehr box. with peanuts. there's a reason sites like newegg ship retail stuff inside a box even when the retail has its own padding! if the scanner is broken thats probably why. if u want to see a photo of the box and u don't believe me thats fine. i'll send it.

Holy Fvck do you not understand how AT works? You don't "sign off" like you sign off from AIM. Once you close the BROWSWER, it shows you as "logged off".

My god, tfinch isn't trying to avoid you or anything. PMs don't work like IM (instant messages in case you didn't know). You send a PM, go do something else and come back and check.

The reason you are being flamed here is for one reason only, and that is that you are impatient and have unrealistic expectations of people when it comes to responses. You barely gave him any time to check his PMs to help make the situation right. It's not like once you send a PM he gets a phone call from Mr. Anand himself.

I hope you realize the problem since so many people have pointed it out. You are such an ass trader.

this is ABSOLUTELY CLASSIC. if he had taken a couple of days to respond you MIGHT, and i repeat MIGHT have a few people that sympathize with you, but as it is NO ONE, ABSOLUTELY NO ONE ELSE here agrees with you.

but that seems to make NO DIFFERENCE to you as you are just a stubborn impatient ass that NO ONE HERE WILL EVER trade with.

Just because he signed off fast does not mean he wasn't going to be helpful about it. People have things to do and maybe he was in a hurry and just remembered to ask you if the thing was working. There could also be other reasons he signed off but it doesn't change the fact that you made false assumptions. If he wasn't going to be respnsive about his problem, why did he even ask if the thing worked in the first place?

The shipping you describe is more than enough. I have shipped things in its original retail box before when there is padding or styrofoam in it to protect the stuff inside. It seems you are trying to shift attention away from the main problem and trying to justify your neutral by complaining on what seems to be acceptable packaging.
