It's better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it.

There have been threats against my extended family more than once, business related. If my state had a concealed carry law, I would have a permit.

Thats strange. My grandma, who is 60some odd years old, got her license in less than a month. A few shots at the practice range and some paperwork and she had hers. SHes in MIchigan though.

And as for myself, I carry nothing. I wish it was legal to carry a nice sword, I find it amusing you can carry a gun but not a sword...

Meanwhile the gang problem where I live is steadily getting worse, and of course, the criminals don't care about the laws so they have their guns and what not.

I was just curious as to what other people do in regards to every day self defense.

Where in NJ do you live?

Listen dude, just carry 2 freshly sharpened no.2 pencils. If you get into a life or death situation, jam it into the assailant's neck and break it off. While he tries to dig out the pencil from his neck, you can calmly dial 911 on your cell and ask for officer assistance. ;)

Way down in the southern part, Bridgeton. North Jersey gangs are coming down here causin' trouble. We've had like 7 fatal shootings in this area in like 2 weeks - all gang related. Couple that with the Klan and Neo Nazi idiots we have out in the sticks down here and you have a real recipe for disaster....

Oh, I see you must have missed that I implied that people who need it should carry it. Those who shouldn't really don't need to. Why not carry a guy or concealed weapon? They just seem to inflame a situation that could have ended peacefully

yea, here in ohio you have to take classes, and they do a background check, and the whole process takes around 11 months. my dads boss is getting his, because he loves guns and the 11 months prevents ppl who have no reason, just want the license to get it.

Nothing. Although it is legal to carry a firearm as long as it is clearly visible and identifiable as one here in AZ.
