So to the 6 of us on ATOT who don't yet have an iPod

I only have one b/c my sis in law upgraded, and gave me her original ipod 1st gen 5gb with a shot battery for helping her move.

i have a SD card mp3 player, very small and have just a few small SD cards for it

No. I don't think I'd use one much if I had it. I listen to the radio or CDs in my car, I listen to the Radio or mp3s on my laptop when home. I like to be aware of my surroundings when outside.

So, I don't really have a use for an iPod.

2nd generation 10GB iPod (acquired from a friend who bought a bigger one)
4th generation 20GB U2 iPod (traded original white iPod in for this that i got from Gratis)
4th generation 20GB U2 iPod Color (Signed by Bono and The Edge, never used)
5th generation 30GB Black iPod (Signed for 12 minutes ago from FedEx)

I was tempted walking through the Atlanta airport. They have IPOD vending machines for gawd's sakes. They are EVERYWHERE!!!

Personally, I'm sticking with my rio until it dies.

I kind of want one too now. I have a 512mb MP3 player and realized I rarely use it because I don't get around to swapping songs around. It'd be nice if I could carry my entire collection with me and just shuffle the playlist.

I'm starting to hate Apple and the Ipods. Slick device but here's the problems I've had:

Got my first 3G in December 2003. About 6 months later the screen crapped out and started to display garbled text. Sent that for repairs and the replacement's hard drive would emit a high pitched squeal when transferring songs. But they wouldn't fix it so I dealt with it. Finally the battery on it gave out so I sent it in for repairs. Just received the replacment and the screen keeps fading in and out -- I have to apply pressure to the LCD just to read the text!

Luckily I paid the extra $60 for apple care but still these things shouldn't have so many freakin problems! I guess that's what you get for manufacturing everything in China these days.

I have the opposite problem: the Ipod isn't good enough for my collection.
