So the NJ state police are mad at the Virginia Police

Right now there was something about our leader of the NJ State Police having an ego battle against the Counter-Terrorist group big wig. But not too long ago, this happened.

Cliffs:
-NJ State police went through VA with sirens blazing and going 95 in a 65.
-Got pulled over by a VA Sherrif's Deputy
-NJ:SP mad pissed at VA

Lesson learned? NJ State Police, you're not in NJ, so you can't do what you do here in other states.

heard about this on the radio (NJ 101.5) the other morning. apparantly the road they were doing 95 on is a hilly, curvy road. 95 is very unsafe speeds on that road apparantly.

kudos to the virginia police

lmfao and the attitude they copped (no pun) during that phone conversation, disgusting. I guess NJ state police think they're special or something.

That may be, but in this case they were perfectly justified in stopping the NJ cops.

95 is simply not an unsafe speed on the interstate.

Of course, you're right. :) I just don't like driving in Virginia.

They were exceeding the speed limits with their lights and sirens on in a non-emergency situation, which is illegal in VA.

Depends on where you are. In the flat lands of the Midwest, you can go just about as fast as you want, depending on the abilities of your car.

It is, however, illegal to exceed 80 in the entire state.

No of course not, and the proof of that is the interstates were designed for a speed of 70mph.

So is jaywalking, so is sitting on a milk-crate in NYC without city approval, so is having an open container in public, so was having anal or oral sex with your wife in most states until Lawrence Vs. Texas. I could give a FVCK less what is illegal or not. Legality doesn't determine my morality or sense of what is right and wrong.

95 is NOT unsafe. It might be illegal, but so what? You think all illegal things are on the same level? You know, someone who goes 95 on the interstate is not someone I consider a criminal. Now, someone who rapes and murders a 3 year old is. I'm sure in your eyes they are the same, though. Sad.

The ATOT holier-than-thou crowd has arrived. I'll let you children have the thread now.

Oh, by the way, slavery, spousal abuse, and a slew of other things used to be legal. If you let legality determine your life then you're a slave to group-think and society.

VA cops are crazy about speeding so many people I know say the only ticket they have ever gotten was the 1 time they drove through VA, but this was justified

Kudos for trying to turning speeding on the interstate into a moral debate involving slavery.

The cops were both speeding and using their lights/sirens when it was clearly illegal to. The issue here is the officers being held to the same standard as everybody else. They clearly seemed to think just because they're cops, they don't have to respect juristicions and laws. That is a big deal, as those who enforce the law should also be the ones who follow it the most.

Kudos for you missing the entire point. You're just like Nik, if something is "illegal" you equate it with bad, reckless, and not good. That's bullsh!t. Your argument was nothing about a standard -- you claimed it was illegal, and that was your reasoning for being happy. You're a typical brow-beater of those that don't fellate every nuance of the law, which is rather sickening in a supposedly free country. What harm came to the state of Virgina or you as a result of them driving 95mph? None. So STFU. It you want equality and a lack of hypocracy, then you better design robots as cops, because you know good and well that if it had been one of the deputy's buddys blowing by at 95 he wouldn't have even moved. He wanted to be an ass to out of state cops -- likely because he was pissed that they had actually been doing something, and he had been sitting on the interstate flogging his cod.

Why does it MATTER if it is illegal? It is fundamentally true the legality is not the same as morality or safety. So, if they weren't morally wrong or being unsafe then why do you care? Mainly because you're a nosy ass that probably loves to snoop and call the police for everything. You uber wannabe-cops get very OLD. Mind your own business.

They are. I remember my Grandfather getting a ticket there in 1990. His first ticket since 1948. Oh, they got him, I'm sure he'll totally change his driving habits.

It is entirely about revenue, although asshats like Heisenberg try to make your believe it is about law & order.

My last ticket was in VA too. Prince Georges County. That being said, the NJ cops shouldn't have been speeding. And this makes them look even more asshattish:

A convoy of New York Police Department officers returning from duties in the Gulf Coast stayed in the right-hand lane and obeyed the speed limit.

Wannabe cop? Lol. That's about the last thing I'd ever choose to do. You want to argue that speeding isn't morally wrong and therefore shouldn't be illegal? Fine, go right ahead. But then nobody, neither cop or average person should be stopped for it. I personally think that a lot of speed limits are set to generate revenue, but that's not the point. You either have to enforce a law equally, or have it removed.
