He told you he works for the CIA?

yes. when he moved in i introduced myself and made a little chit chat.

thus why i assumed she's who she said she is when she bought up the fact he's in the CIA.

UTmtnbiker- yeah, i have no idea what a real FBI ID looks like.

MaxDepth- no skirt and 3" heels. pants and a jacket. i'm assuming her gun in underneath the jacket since ALL fbi field agents are required to have a gun.

yeah i had that happen to me too when one of my co-workers applied for a permanent visa. the guy came in, (had the courtesy to leave his gun in his car there was a holster but no gun in it) showed me NO ID just said he was from the FBI and was wanting to know more about my co-worker, i told him everything he wanted to know we chatted a bit more about just stuff and left saying he would be back later to talk to my boss, he did come back a week later, again no gun, no badge, but the fact he knew my co-workers name (hard to say/spell) and that she was applying for a visa was proof enough he worked for a government agency. (my co-worker is anti-social so nobody knows her other than her co-workers/boss)

I thought that for the FBI, leaving their gun behind was a no-no.

well it was very informal, and it was a very hot day so he was not wearing a jacket, and i would think he thought he would be more like bullying us for info if he was showing his gun.

After reading about the incident where a husband and wife FBI team were drummed out for leaving their guns and badges behind so they could attend a swinger's party, I would think they would make sure to keep it on them, bullying or not.

hehe, yeah not sure what the guy was thinking then, maybe he was off-duty and doing this on his own time. because he also kept on asking if i knew anything about where Asians hanged out in my town (very low population of Asians here, and my co-worker is Asian)

I had an FBI or some other agent do that to me at my last apartment. Apparently they were looking for someone who used to live there. Told them I didn't recognize the name, but I'd seen some mail with that name.

Later I wondered why they didn't ask questions... but then I assumed the FBI would probably have an idea of what that person looked like (which I guess wasn't me).

Did the badge have Mickey Mouse ears on it?

No, that's exactly what happens. I was interviewed for my friend's clearance, as were his neighbors. How are they supposed to have people talk to them if they don't identify who they are and what they are doing?

Before you only knew his name and where he lives. But now you know his name, where he lives, and you know he works for the CIA. Now you know too much. It was nice knowing you.

I didn't think FBI did background checks for security clearances. I've talked to the security folks, but none of them were FBI.

Just looked it up ... The folks I talked to were DSS as all the clearances were related to DoD.

I guess the FBI handles the other departments.

Wait a minute, the FBI goes door to door telling people who in their neighborhood works for the CIA?

U do realize that all CIA jobs aren't BLACK OPS FIELD AGENTS right? They have people scrubbing the toilets, pushing paper and answering phones as well.

I was thinking about that the other day... if someone flashes their badge, how do you know it's even real ? And basically you're supposed to let them into your house. I don't know what I'd really do if I were in a bad neighborhood.
