It was a lady. she said she was from the FBI and flashed her badge.

One of my neighbors works for the CIA. He's upgrading his clearance, and she's doing the background checks.

She's interviewing everyone on my block.

my neighbor moved in 6 months ago. the only thing i know about him is his name.

so basically i said i had no info on him. she thnaked me for my yime and left.

the funny thing is that when u flash a badge, you dont see enuf to actually tell if she's who she says she is.

she could have been a PI working for someone sueing him for all i know...

makes me want to ask to see the badge for a longer perioid of time, if there's a next time.

You can always ask to see the badge again and take a good hard look. We deal with OSI agents all the time, and I generally take a good hard look at the little leather folder/badge/ID/whatever it's called to really make sure it's really legit (not that I could tell, but at least I've taken a good hard look!).

Any legit federal agent will let you look to your heart's content until you're satisfied.

Someone left a note on my door saying they were from the FBI and conducting a background search on someone I know and wanted me to call them. My wife tried the number and one of them was some guys house phone number and the other was his mobile, but neither said anything about the FBI, so I told her not to bother calling back and don't talk to them without me or at least ask them for proper identification

Did she have a short skirt and a long jacket? Hot in high heels? Yup, she's FBI then. At least that's what they look like on TV.

Shens...

Way too much information was provided... There's no way that they would tell you that he works for the CIA, let alone that he is upgrading his clearance... They also wouldn't interview people that are on the street that probably don't even know him.

Did the badge have Mickey Mouse ears on it?

yes. when he moved in i introduced myself and made a little chit chat.

thus why i assumed she's who she said she is when she bought up the fact he's in the CIA.

UTmtnbiker- yeah, i have no idea what a real FBI ID looks like.

MaxDepth- no skirt and 3" heels. pants and a jacket. i'm assuming her gun in underneath the jacket since ALL fbi field agents are required to have a gun.

When they went around asking people questions for my clearance they talked to my neighbors that I didnt put down as refrences. They just got my address and started walking around the neighborhood asking people about me.

that's funny, but you're wrong. They interview everyone... all your neighbors. They don't know/care if you know them or not.

For an "O" clearance they not only interview all the neighbors but, anyone the individual and his family says they have known for a year or longer.

They found you. that lady was just doing a scanning of your house (while you had your door open) to see whats where and who lives etc etc. They are preparing for a massive raid on your house pretty soon. I would say....RUN NOW...Big brother is ON you :p ;)

But why would the CIA be doing background checks for FBI ?
