I enjoyed it but I found it to be weak as a comedy. But who cares, classifications are so arbituary.

Pretty enormous reach there OP. I have no desire to see it because it looks totally stupid. There was not a single thing in any of the trailers or previews I have seen that even came close to making me chuckle.

It is getting blasted by the media and others because it is a crappy movie. End of story.

KT

PS: I liked Bruce Almighty, because it was actually funny.

Based on how you wrote that sentence, I'd say they're close to right.

The "liberal media conspiracy" is just as overplayed as the "necon world domination conspiracy".

It was a poor movie, its just that simple.

If this was like Mel's Jesus movie, I may[/] give your argument some credibility.

This was just a poorly done sequel, it could have been much better.

Not necessarily, depending on how you think of "audience". If you think of "an audience" as a single entity, then yes, saying "are brainless" is wrong. But if you consider an audience a group of people, then "are brainless" should work.

Wait, he spelled audience wrong. Nevermind.

Edit: damn quote feature!

I didn't think it was that funny either. The movie was full of little quips that are supposed to be "edgy humor", but I don't find edgy, "OMG did she say that?" stuff very funny most the time.

Evan Almighty wasn't very good. It didn't make me laugh at all. Although I did have no problem continuing to watch it, unlike other bad movies where I just can't wait for it to be over. So as long as a movie can keep me watching without wanting to stop, it's alright I guess...

what kind of pent up anger and/or fear of your dad do you harbor? or are you just looking for someone to play with at recess and help you pass out the afternoon snack?

i dont think id even thought of this as a sequel, just a themed movie. putting "almighty" at the end of it doesnt mean its going to continue the first movie. one of my kids saw this yesterday with her friends. shes 10 and thought it was funny. maybe you guys have too high of expectations for funny.

*sigh* people still go by a movies score on Rotten Tomatoes? iMDB, Metacritic, and even Yahoo provide a much more realistic gauge.

No, it's not a comedy.
No, it's not scoring well at RT (24%).
No, the media doesn't like it.

Why might this be?

Yes, it's a good family movie.
Yes, it enforces strong traditional family values.
Yes, it exposes the evils of politics / accurate depiction of life in Washington (John Goodman).
Yes, it's a pro-environment movie.
Yes, it's religious, drawing heavily on content from Genesis.
Yes, there is prayer in the movie.
Yes, God (Morgan Freeman) is in the movie.

Finally...

Yes, it's actually a good movie!

It's only getting a 24% on RT because the powers that be in our glorious media don't like the concepts above that appear in the movie.

But don't let the media scare you. In fact, ignore them. If you want to see it, do! And bring your family along.

:)
i figured the critics wouldn't like it because it's biblical based.

The problem with movies today is that Hollywood assumes the audience have no brains.

Now go away troll. I'll be sure to call movie security next time you put your punk feet on back of my chair.

wow that is one of the worst rants ever.

considering Bruce Almighty had all of those in your "Yes" list in them and it was a good movie basically makes your entire point moot.

from the previews it just looks like a stupid movie.

So you're basically saying that you think the "media" doesn't like it because of the religious overtones in the movie?

Last I checked, people love movies with religious themes.

The only part that confused me is the bible says god would never flood the earth again and yet this movie is about a flood on the earth from god, I assume the religious zealots would jump all over that?

My little sister told me it was good before I went to see it.. so I guess you have to be a young girl to like Evan Almighty :Q!

[jamie]Well, there's your problem[/jamie]

It is SUPPOSED to be a comedy and is being rated as such.

I didn't read the whole thread, maybe someone already brought up this point. But wasn't 5,6 and 7 of the "Yes's" already in "Bruce Almighty"? I think those are the major points that would cause society to not like it and "Bruce Almighty" was a hit.

So I think your points are unjust.
