Saw Evan Almighty tonight with my dad.

No, it's not a comedy.
No, it's not scoring well at RT (24%).
No, the media doesn't like it.

Why might this be?

Yes, it's a good family movie.
Yes, it enforces strong traditional family values.
Yes, it exposes the evils of politics / accurate depiction of life in Washington (John Goodman).
Yes, it's a pro-environment movie.
Yes, it's religious, drawing heavily on content from Genesis.
Yes, there is prayer in the movie.
Yes, God (Morgan Freeman) is in the movie.

Finally...

Yes, it's actually a good movie!

It's only getting a 24% on RT because the powers that be in our glorious media don't like the concepts above that appear in the movie.

But don't let the media scare you. In fact, ignore them. If you want to see it, do! And bring your family along.

:)

You are wrong. It is a comedy.

Edit-It looks kind of stupid but I'll probably watch it on cable in a few weeks which is probably how long it will take before it hits HBO or Showtime.

You are blaming the "lib" media for this? Funny how many of the things that you claim are bringing this movie down seemed to work fine the first go around with Morgan Freeman as God. Is "lib media" the first words republican babies utter nowadays?

Cool...nice to know there is a decent movie to go see.

BTW, what's RT?

It has been for at least a decade...which is why they created Faux news.

You are kidding right??? You realize that the main actor is from the Daily Show and is most likely a liberal himself......

I saw a program on the creation of this movie the other day. The director is very environmentally conscious and bought everyone on the set bicycles to get to and from the set. He also had trees planted to offset the environmental impact of the movie production.

I'm pretty sure it's getting bad reviews because it's supposed to be a comedy. It's also a sequel that doesn't have the main character from the first movie, and those never do well. The first movie did pretty well for itself with many of the same points you listed.

Guess we need to move this one to the P & N?

It is headed south quick.

I think it looks hilarious. But of course they don't show the non-funny clips in the commercials and trailers.

How does it compare to Bruce Almighty? I thought that movie was hilarious too.

Steve Carell was really funny in 40 Year Old Virgin. This movie just looks rather meh...

Exactly, I think it's more a pro-environment movie with religious overtones.

I don't mind either.

Yeah, you sure showed him and his perceived black-and-white, insulting political views by sputtering your black-and-white, insulting political views.

I saw it. It was hilarious. I'm a Christian and I laughed my ass off. He's awesome at making fun of everyone. Great lines in there, too. A+ movie...

Either that, or because it is being promoted by the studio as a comedy, and it is the sequel to another comedy.

If you tell someone "come watch our great new comedy" and show them Passion of the Christ you wouldn't expect a positive reaction would you?

This is the first and only time I've heard anything about it not being a (weak) comedy.

I liked Steve Carell in both the Office and 40 Year Old Virgin but I'm pretty sure sequels that don't have the main character return are cursed.

No, idiot. I am 27. I haven't seen my dad since last November so I flew in to see him (and the dog) for a few days. I am happy to say he and I get along pretty well...and even see movies together.

The last movie I saw at the theater I saw it with my dad. I'm 44 and he is 69. Want to make a comment?

You are ignoring the fact that that "liberal" media is owned by "conservative" corporations.
This whole "Liberal vs Conservative" thing has it's basis in divide and conquer.

You're both wrong. It was intended to be a comedy. They just missed.
