So Obama was with a room full of Republicans today

It's not just here, it's on almost every political forum.

Abraham Lincoln said that a house divided against itself cannot stand (although Jesus did say that first). And the partisan extremists on both sides are doing their damnedest to bring down America, all the while shirking any personal responsibility for their own actions and blaming "the other side" for everything.
IOW, we have become a nation of spoiled brats.

It's hard to have personal responsility when our president has so little.

I do not agree with you though the last 3 elections have brought out the silent majority IMO. People want simple government that takes care of the big stuff so they can take care of their personal responsibilities. That is why both the Dems and the Repubs parties are shrinking and the Independants are growing. They both stand for crap and not the voter.

Yes there are many spoiled bratz and they want something for nothing. They feel entitled. The government needs to provide for their appothetic ways. The rest of us want to take care of our own crap in our own lives. Entitlements can be a drug. The Government is their dealer. Remeber folks lifes is not fair. You need to work to make yours better!

I watched this entire thing, and I've got this much to say.

The reports of the death of Obama's presidency have been grossly exaggerated. That was probably the most frank discussion I've ever seen between the President and the opposition party. This may have been the first real "debate" the American Public has ever seen. It made for good "politics" and it was just...well, frankly, refreshing.

What's even funnier is that many Republicans saying future meetings should never be televised... so much for transparency.

To Exman, complex problems often do not have simple solutions. Be careful for what you wish for.

*Edit*: Now what I want to see is Obama do it in front of the Democrat congress and scold them in the same way. Then bring them together outside of DC and do it again.

That's funny, within the last hour, I sent a message to the White House saying almost exactly the same thing. Yes I know the President will never see it, but I have a teeny, tiny hope that other people would keep suggesting that also, and it finally gets to him.

You think Obama has political capital to spend? Heh. Heh. Heh. Political capital deficit.

He probably will. His populist change happened overnight after Scott Brown. He now wants to portray an image of "I'm fighting washington for you!" It's straight Alinski/marxist rulebook. Pay real close attention to the class warfare in his words and actions. He's in full campaign mode right now.

Err, where is the white house located Mr. President?

Just watched it for the second time, and am extremely pleased we have a president that can conduct himself in that manner. The man knows his stuff.

He was polite and professional, and just destroyed those guys with knowledge and civility. Boehner looked like he was trying to recover from a strong kick to the nuts.

Epic lulz at those trying to pull a repeat of spinning Bush's repeated beat-downs in Presidential debates. The GOP dumped a huge load of salt in it's own eyes by letting that be televised.

"White House officials told the Huffington Post they were absolutely ecstatic. MSNBC's Luke Russert, who was on the scene in Baltimore, relayed that a Republican official and other GOP aides had confided to him that allowing the "cameras to roll like that" was a "mistake."

So effective was the president that Fox News cut away from the broadcast 20 minutes before it ended.

😀 Nice one Obama. I'm joining many other posters in wishing there will be bi-partisan repeats of that kind of awesomeness.

hehe, poor Fox News. 😀

Quoted for absurdity.

Bush and other Reps have avoided accountability and responsibility on pretty much everything for slightly more than a decade. Where were your critiques then? Obama, on the other hand, took responsibility ("The buck stops here.") just last month with the Christmas bombing attempt - a double standard, an issue that he could have ignored like his predecessor did with the Reid bombing attempt.

Lay off the talk radio, it's bad for you.

I'd love to know to what breaking emergency story they just had to report on while the president was making a constructive, ground-breaking initiative to his harshest critics.

Good ol Faux, there's always a little more they can dig out of that hole... They Report (or not). You decide. lol

Same thing happens whether it's republican or democrat. Our politicians treat it like a game where all that matters is their team wins. None of them care one whit about anything to do with the actual people that live in this country and the rest of the world. None of them are willing to sacrifice anything because they think it makes them look weak. Unfortunately they are weak because they won't bend, it makes them brittle.

There is a bi-partisan online petition up to request that Obama and the republicans repeat this exercise on a regular basis and that it be televised for the benefit of the American public:

LOL! Bipartisian my butt. Today he met with Dems to tell them how to call out republicans. What he fails to get yet is the reason repubs are rejecting his policies is because they are actually listening to their constituents telling them to reject his crap. Have you seen his poll numbers recently? All the elections he touches turn to crap?

Real bipartisian there Hussien. You are the most polarizing partisian president in history.

You're saying the petition I linked to is not a bi-partisan petition that was created and endorsed by dem and repub bloggers? I'm pretty sure you're wrong on that...

Hm, not one Democratic politician either.

:awe:

I doubt the petition is being signed by politicians. I think it is being signed by ordinary citizens.

Seriously, why would anyone oppose the idea of creating a tradition where a sitting President sits down with the opposition party on a regular basis and has a televised discussion with them?
