Actions speak louder than words.
It's disrespecting their house for you to bring it in there.
Just ain't cool.
Keep it elsewhere if you gonna do it.

Then why would you expect anything less than pissed off parents? Maybe you need to get your life in order before smoking up?

well my life is in order, and i DO understand why my father is pissed off, the problem is, i want him to understand that weed is not crack or heroine (sp??) he belives weed will make me a monster and iam going to rob a bank or something... and also he belives that I smoked because I got a problem with my life (that i want to killmyself...) I want him to understand that although weed is ilegal it is not the monster he think its, its just for fun!! you know have a blast with your good old mates from highschool... hush people stop flaiming (sp??)

First off, im not flaming you. Second, its your parents job to be upset when they learn of you using illegal drugs. You dont like it? Maybe you should get your own place.

4-5 of my friends from high school are still doing exactly what they did in high school... smoking pot, who knows what else, working dead end jobs. They refuse to 'grow up' and move on with their lives, so in my opinion, the weed contributed to their failures. so drugs can, and DO ruin lives, yes, even pot...and since you don't seem to have the maturity to realize why your parents react like they did...you could very well end up like my high school friends.

And for the love of baby jesus, take a grammar class or something :-(

Your dad has been through some bad experiences and doesn?t want you to have to go through it yourself. Put up with the criticism.

I smoked weed for two years straight while living with my Dad after high school and to my knowledge never got caught.

Dont do dumbass things like keep it in the house. That's just asking for trouble.

I always kept it in my car.

So living with your Dad as an adult and smoking weed aren't related? Hmmmm.

Any recreational drug can be a bad thing. It's a risk that as a youth shouldn't be shurgged off as "it's no big deal". If I EVER caught my offspring yet to be born making the same mistakes I did I would make the consequences very clear.

Am I hypocritical? Sure as heck am. But after traveling a path you can tell those following you to not follow that path. That's not hypocrite.

Right, because people really learn there lesson being in a big gay dungeon for a year. I've known so many great people who came out of jail!

Oh, wait...

Damn, I hate how everyone on ATOT thinks they're better than everyone else.

I lived with my Dad because I was going to community college to save money. My Dad didnt have the money to send me to a four year school right out of college and I didnt want him to feel like he somehow had to make that happen. I smoked weed for recreation almost every day, a couple times a day while holding a steady job and pulling a 3.7 GPA.

IMO, a drug like weed is harmless so long as it doesnt take over your life. If you can handle it without it affecting your job or school, then I say burn till your heart's content. In this respect it is no worse than alcohol.

No, I'm not better than you.

I traveled that path. There's a reason why you're living with your dad and struggling. Weed is only an indicator. "I can handle it", "It's harmless", "I'm fine", "There's no problem".

Living at home to save money while holding a 3.7 GPA is struggling?

OP: Have a man to man talk with your father, calmly explain why you choose to smoke pot, and let him know that you will keep it away from his house (and follow that rule).

Dangerous thing to smoke stuff that has been handled by those who don't have your best interest in mind. . . .

They have his best interest in mind if they want repeat business. It's not like he's doing crack for Pete's sake.

Suck it up and drop the habbit till you move out. I would probably smoke it if it didnt make me very paranoid and muddle my head up so that I can't think straight. I probably smoke it once every 3 years or something and every single time I hate it.

I got caught smoking pot when I was a teen and of course got in trouble, etc. Come to find out as an adult that my father was a morphine addict for over 15 years ironically and all during the time my brothers and I got in trouble for smoking pot. Go figure.

I don't even drink alchohol much at all because I just don't tolerate it well. A single beer or two max is about all I ever drink. Sip of hard liquor once in a while.

Your going to have to quit anyhow because of drug testing these days.

Consider yourself lucky. I'd call the police on my kid if I caught him/her with drugs.

Would that really be the most beneficial action for your child in the long run?

Seriously though get over yourself, your dad has a right to be mad. You got caught with an illegal drug while living in your parents house... foolish.

My grandfather was an alcoholic; he stopped drinking a long time ago (I have no idea when), but his kids all ended up leading very unsuccessful lives (except my mom). Most of them drink heavily, at least one uncle is definitely an alcoholic, another uncle went to prison for growing marijuana, etc, etc. My grandfather felt responsible for all of this and it eventually drove him to suicide.

Quit smoking pot until you're out of your parents' house at least.

Man, replace suicide with kidney failure, & make yourself Puerto Rican, & that's a mirror image of my family. :(

We all make our own decisions.
