That's awesome, lucky you!
and mugs, most schools do not differentiate between an A- and an A.
I disagree.... I have nothing to backup the claim that I am about to make, but I'm going to claim it anyway:
The majority of quality colleges and universities have different GPA scores for an A-, A, and A+.

Of the schools I've attended, one differentiated between A and A- (but did not have an A+), and the other three did not. I'd venture to say that most schools seem to be going away from the +/- system in general, but that's completely antecdotal.

My school is ranked #34 in the nation and we do not use the +/- scale although we tried it out and found out that it sucks. So there's one quality school for ya.

your school differentiates between A- and A?
Most schools do.
Is the GPA the same? I thought all As were 4.0s

This worked out ok for you I guess but what kind of BS is this by the professor? Using some absurd prediction equation to determine what your likely grade was... I don't think so, jerk! You lose my final, you give me a perfect score on it. END OF STORY. I would accept the A- and then write a letter or speak to the dean. That is totally unprofessional and unacceptable.

As a teaching assistant I once spilled a beer on a term paper I was about to grade. It got an "A". I didn't even want to read it for fear I would regret my decision.
Now remember, don't drink and grade.
Have you ever graded tests before?! Drinking and grading practically go hand in hand.
