It's pretty bad now. Hackers everywhere. ESP, assisted aiming, and full blown autobotting. If you suck at the game you likely wont see them because it actually matches all the bots together (cause they're so good).

Yeah I had said that on the first day it was released. Wallhacks and aimbots out on the first day it came out just means it will be that much worse down the road, which is exactly whats happening..... MW2 is such a bad game in so many ways. I am so glad I did not buy it. Lets focus on other more inspired, skillfull and interesting games. :p

I wish we could just lock all MW2 related threads and just move on.....

I have the same attitude now. I'm actually thinking about "if you can't beat them might as well join them". I'm also thinking many others are going to join the hack wagon soon. I have lost all interest talking about MW2 let alone playing it.

Interesting, I'm now level 34 and seeing hackers in most of the games I join now. It's hard to continue playing this game with how often I'm getting insta-killed. I know it's crazy, but at this point I'm extremely suspicious of anyone using an LMG since these seem the most hack friendly weapons from what I can tell. It's really dissappointing since this might be my favorite multiplayer game in a long time.

I'm wondering a couple things though - I don't understand how these things work... Are they 'always on' and simply pointing the crosshairs in an enemies direction gets them to auto-fire? Or does the player simply hit the fire button and it auto-targets whenever he's holding down 'fire'? Can someone clarify this for me? I won't accuse anyone of hacking and I'm certainly not interseted using them. I'd just like to know what it is I'm up against and determine whether it's worth continuing to play the game or not.

I might go buy it for X360 instead, which would be a shame since I really like everything about this game so far aside from the hacking. But it's gotten incredibly worse as I've leveled up. I've played too many Valve shooters to have any faith in VAC.

Just an FYI.. just because somebody is good doesnt mean they are hacking.

I've been accused of hacking so much lately its rediculous. I've been working my ass off at getting a nukes in game. Everytime i get one (25 killstreak) people seem to think im hacking.

Just a PSA. Not everybody thats better than you is hacking

"This video is no longer available due to a copyright claim by Activision Games Inc. " <- Fail by Acitivsion.

I do not play shooters on consoles for the same reason. Yes I do suck with the controller but I can usually have fun, but not when the opposing team is bunny hopping across the map and headshotting people mid-flight. Sorry, MW2 is no no for me.

Totally agree with that one.

Weird, I still like playing...I also have only seen 2, maybe 3, OBVIOUS hackers...74-0 sort of scores, otherwise I still womp em.

I've gone 45-1, I still find the game fun.

And anyone whose on that if you can't beat them join them shit, just quit now. You aren't helping anything.

The hacks can be fully customized to make them less obvious. You can use them with or without recoil, wall hacking (esp), no smoke, hot key aim bot (press a key and your aim adjusts to the nearest target), auto prone, auto knife, you can even adjust the time it takes for the gun to aim at the target to make it look less "automated". I played the game long enough to know what is a natural aim motion and what is not after playing against the same player for more than 10 minutes.

So for all you know now you can be playing against guys only using one or more features of the hack to make it less obvious. Though that's just the risk of multiplayer I guess. Problem is you can't even kick the more obvious ones.

And yes, I got banned a couple of times in MW one when over-zealous admins thought I was hacking. The same server that banned me allowed me back to be a member of their clan. Figures. After seeing how these hacks can be customized I can't blame them either.

Awesome write-up, that's exactly what I thought was going on. I don't ever accuse players of hacking unless I'm well beyond positive that they are. I enjoy playing against good players and don't mind getting spanked so long as it's legit. But I know hacking when I see it and I just couldn't understand why some of the hackers go 105-15 in a match and others were only going like 25-10. So that must be it, they're customizing the hacks to maintain the appearance of being "legit".

Cool, that explains a lot. This is one of things that console games crush the pc on - consoles have a level playing field. There's no hacking going on, at least 99% of players are legit. It's a shame since PC FPS games are so much more fun due to mouse+keyboard, better graphics, and more mature players.

Such a bummer.

I played a good bit today and all the matches were fun without any noticeable hackers. So I like the game again! Hah. Man this game is good when everyone's playing fairly. Are there many things more satisfying than having Cold Blooded and Stinger missles, and shooting down someone's Chopper Gunner perk literally 5 seconds in... ? Hah, so sweet!

I've suspected people of cheating but not until last night did i see one that looked like I had any proof with the kill cam, but if he was cheating, he sucked at cheating.

We were on Favela. I watched as the guy was coming to the same corner i was about to come around. all of a sudden he stops and brings up his weapon and then blasts me as i come around the corner. I was using cold blooded perk and hadn't fired my weapon. He wasn't using a heartbeat sensor so there was no way he could have known I was there.

That happens to be quite a bit. Although if you weren't running Ninja he could've heard your footsteps. Especially if he's a serious gamer and is using directional headphones like I do - very easy to hear footsteps and tell where they're coming from.

I was in a search and deystroy server yesterday and for the first time saw irrefutable proof of a hacker. In S&D there are no respawns, so when you die you can observe your teammates. One of my teammates had to have every conceivable hack on. He'd hold down the fire button and his sights would keep hopping from enemy to enemy, headshotting them all. It was embarassing and we all told him to get a life and left the server, but then IW's wonderful match-making system just keeps dumping people into his game so he has more people to kill.

If you witness an obvious hacker PLEASE report it. Hit shit+tab to bring up steam, then click players, then "previous games" and find the player in your list of people you've recently played with. Click on their "steam ID page" and then in the upper right look for "report misconduct". If enough people do it maybe they can look into it and ban the jackasses. Although maybe that's wishful thinking.

Also, I agree, if you are of the type "can't beat them so thinking about joining them" you're no better than the original hackers. You do that and it only leads to more and more people hacking and it's a loss for all involved.

I've played a lot of MW2 but only found two confirmed cheaters with aimbot+etc (very obvious). A couple others may have had some texture hack or something where it seemed like they knew where I was even without UAV or with cold blooded/suppressed/etc.

But for how many games I've played that's a small number and VAC is doing its job. I play TDM 90% of the time though, and I hear cheaters are more common in Ground War.

I don't think that reporting feature works on cheaters. VAC is supposed to be automatic, so I don't see how reporting a single player will do anything.

vac is anything but an automatic ban in my experience, i knew a kid on my counter-strike team who cheated for 2 years, i mean legitly cheated, with an aimbot, and he admitted it. he just got vacced on his account 2-3 weeks ago.

Well, when I posted earlier in this thread I was paranoid about hackers but I'm now level 60 and I don't think I've come across a single cheater in the time it took me to go from level 35 - 60. The game is definitely NOT over-run with hackers, this much is for sure.

The only real issue at the moment is some 'glitch' of sorts which turns Ground War matches into Domination on Rust. Yes, Rust. That tiny little map and you play with 18 people in it. Oh, and it never ends apparently. Ever. As in, it just keeps going and going... You still have to get your kills fairly but obviously it's not in the spirit the game was intended.

I've now been in three of these Rust matches and I had a lot of fun in the first two, it's crazy hectic and just insane. It's chaos and you can really rack up the unlocks although I'm not sure you get any challenge points, but your kills do count...etc.

I have no idea how people are starting this glitch but it's something to look out for.

What is Rust? I've never heard of it, and have never come across it. Is it a map that's not normally included in the MP, and thus some sort of glitch or something?
