Good luck, we know all branches of the military are desperate for people. Recuitment quotas are not close to being met.

ZJ, I don't believe you are serious. However, if you are I don't think you quite understand what it takes to be in the military and the possible consequences of participating in a war. A few of my friends who have done 2 tours (Iraq and Afghanistan) have told me stories of people they had to kill, including children who were inadvertently killed. It f's with your mind. Especially if you kill them up close where you can look into their eyes. A couple of them would just be doing mundane things at home and then just break down and cry out of nowhere. The soldier life is not a glorious one and comes at a sacrifice, oftentimes. Of course, this is assuming you get some kind of combat arms MOS. Either way, you are an idiot for basing your decision off of a recruiter and "research" on forums.

Sorry to hear your friends couldn't execape the military. 🙁

Yeah. You can't even be a medic with that history. 'Moral Turpitude'.

I say, join. I mean, living in austere environments and focusing on your missions is like the best detox program... well, ever. And you get PAID!

Take the ASVAB first, then PM me if you have any questions about the U.S. Army. And please study before taking the ASVAB Text

My sig shows that I'm a
68W - Health Care Specialist (otherwise known as a medic)
Skill level 5 - Master Sergeant (E-8)

Almost makes me glad I'm so blind that they won't take me in a combat arms trade. I'm hoping to sign up as a water tech soon.

To OP... good luck. If this story is even true. I've also read army forums, and seen many "I did drugs, but recruiter said ok" that turns into "WTF, recruiter said ok, they said no cause I did drugs".

If he does go in, what odds are we giving him for successfully completing Basic?

Can I put $10 on him going AWOL and/or getting stoned and discharged during his first weekend leave?

Holy shit I stay out of OT for a few weeks and I come back to this? It's like fucking Christmas in July!!!

Face it. You guys will miss ZJ if he joins the army. Heck, his threads are among the most popular in OT. Very few threads get as many views & replies as his do in such a short amount of time. Not everything he's posted has been shens; he at least provided a newspaper link of one of his somewhat sensational (and possibly embellished) stories.

ZJ, if you're really going into the Army, Good Luck & may you make it through safely.

I read all of the replies, and i can't make my mind up if this poster is serious about joining or not. He has kids and a wife and he wants to join the military in order to be able to take care of them. Hmm, I wonder if op understand that pay sucks in military in beginning.
