Cannot believe I missed this thread.
If this is real, and I sincerely hope it is, good luck to you! I'll offer this: as a future officer who may have men under his command that were fuckups in life prior to enlisting - don't let me down.
While I was attached to a Basic Combat Training Company for a few weeks over the summer for officer training, I met a few trainees that kind of share similar stories in that there life was headed down the wrong track, and they wanted to turn their life around.
It's something you can EASILY do, if you can fight your lack of willpower on the worse days and grow determined to overcome your own weaknesses.
Don't forget the reality of what the Army is though. While it is a great way to turn your life around, it should be treated as an honor to serve, and accept the fact that you are no longer an individual per se, but a small cog in a large machine, and a member of a team that may ultimately need everything you can offer.
If you have Army-related questions, shoot me a PM. I'll admit that I've made bad decisions in life, and the Army alone is not going to be the answer to all your problems. It'll show the way, but it's you that has to walk down that road toward complete recovery and you that has to fix personal issues. And mind you, while in Basic you'll basically be forced to stay clean, once in the regular service there are ample opportunities to score basically whatever you may desire. Getting caught bears a heavy price to pay, and if you truly want to stay clean, it's all right back on you to remain that way.
I've never really posted in your threads, and have no real opinions on you. Well, I read your threads and know the shit you do, but honestly, I don't care what one does with his/her life. I do care when they expect society to provide a helping hand, at least, that's just my stance in life. Take care of your own problems, and realize the impact the choices made in life may have on yourself and especially others.
This better not be a bullshit thread.
